"It went well. It was wonderful to see a family work together like that father and two sons they got along with. They got the job done. I wanted to pitch in and help myself sometimes just because it's something I used to do. I had to force myself to stand back and just let them do their work. I would absolutely hire them again. It was a pleasure to have them out here. I even cooked them a barbecue one day. It was awesome."

CHIMNEY INSPECTIONS LEVEL 1 AND LEVEL 2 WE DO NOT SERVICE GAS FIREPLACES Chimney Rebuilds When deterioration of the chimney reaches the point of no return, the solution is a tear-down and rebuild. A partial chimney rebuild can be done in cases where a portion of the structure is salvageable. All rebuilds include installation of a new concrete chimney crown. Chimney Liners Chimney liners provide an extra layer of protection between the chimney wall and your home. This additional protection is critical, as defects commonly appear in the chimney wall, beginning a process that gradually erodes the chimney. As the chimney wall gives way to deterioration, the potential arises for the infiltration of smoke and gases into your home, as well as damage

Family owned & operated. Fireplace wood stacked, split & delivered. By the cord or by the trailer load. Types of wood: oak, birch, maple. Firewood racks & kindling.

"They conformed to my schedule when the weekend wasn't good for me and showed up exactly on time. The wood was properly stacked and not crisscrossed which wastes space and lowers the amount of wood you get. The size of the wood pieces was consistent and a perfect size for a fireplace. The price was very competitive. They cleaned up after themselves and were very friendly. Good experience. Recommended. Will buy from again when I need more fireplace wood."

We are Locally owned and operated by Mike Lutz. We are licensed bonded and insured. Mike has been in the industry for 30 years. We are dedicated to providing the kind of service that we would expect when inviting someone into our home for needed repairs, replacements and recommendations. We have access to other manufacturers as well. For service, repairs needing parts can be generally be completed in the first trip, as our truck stock is quite complete. We do offer free estimates for equipment installations.

"During a recent heat wave, so many AC guys were scheduling initial visits weeks away, and installs additional weeks after that. Genesis came out to review my problem days after contacted, and installed new AC about a week after that. Responsive, courteous, professional and cheaper than the area big HVAC companies."

Great Time and Material Rates for troubleshooting and repair work! No travel charges. Additional contacts: Kevin Letson & Michelle Letson. "A little pricey, and somewhat inflexible - they wanted to always install new home run circuits to panel, reluctant to tie into anything existing - but knew their stuff."

"Jon did a nice job on the Kitchen Backsplash. He was always on time and listened to what we wanted done. He cleaned up everything very well after he completed the work and I could tell he cared about the work done. Easy to talk to and provided tips on maintenance of the tile. He was always very quick to respond when we sent him an e-mail. Would recommend."

2009 Winner -Twin Cities Builder Association- Subcontractor/Associate Of The Year. Highest Possible rating at Better Business Bureau. No subs. Average experience of service reps and installers over 10 years. In business since 1971.

"Called IDC to replace broken spring on garage door. Good technician, service completed, all seemed good. Exactly 1 1/2 years later to the day, the spring snapped again. Two other garage-door companies advised that the spring should have lasted 3-5 years even with heavy usage, and the part was most likely defective. IDC flatly informed us they have a 1-year warranty and the repair would be full price. Bad part, bad business. No thanks."

Gas Fireplace Service questions, answered by experts

While fireplace inserts can help you make more use of your fireplace, they do come with some drawbacks. Some cons of fireplace inserts include the sometimes high cost of the insert and installation, the ongoing maintenance to buy fuel and clean the fireplace insert, and the efficiency. Fireplace inserts can operate more efficiently than an open fireplace, but they may not heat your home as evenly as an HVAC system.

The easiest fireplace to build is an electric fireplace. These aren’t true fireplaces but can mimic the look of a traditional fireplace. True fireplaces, made of brick and stone, are complex and require professional installation; adding them to an existing home is demanding and expensive. You could spend $30,000 to have a real fireplace installed.

Your fireplace flue is open when the chimney is unsealed and open to the outside air and sky. That’s why one of the best ways to figure out if your flue is open is to visually check for daylight inside of your chimney—or to feel for a draft, which may be generated by the difference in temperatures inside and outside of your home.

Chimney liners often benefit from insulation, though it is not always required. Insulation helps improve the liner's efficiency by keeping flue gasses hotter, which enhances draft and reduces creosote buildup. It also prevents condensation, which can lead to corrosion. Insulation is important for chimneys on exterior walls or in colder climates. Some building codes may require insulation, so checking local regulations is essential.

A quality pellet stove that receives proper maintenance should last you about 15 to 20 years. However, how long a pellet stove lasts depends on how well you care for it over the years and how often you call on it for heat. Proper maintenance—including cleaning the vents periodically, vacuuming the ash pan when it gets full, and refreshing the pellets when needed—can help your pellet stove last longer.
