"Windows are high quality.  Had all windows in the house replaced (20) and Installation was done in a day.  Very happy with the way the windows perform.  Always had some condensation on the old windows but not with these."

"We were relieved that we found a company that would actually help us with our window issue when no other company would even come and take a look at our issue 'because we did not purchase the window from them'. The Glass Guru came to look at our issue within 2 days, told us what they needed to do (quick fix) and then immediately scheduled us in and came to make repair. Courteous, knowledgeable, left work area clean! Could not have asked for a better experience - we will recommend them to anyone."

"Very well.  Jeff, the owner, was very informative and helpful upon initial telephone contact.  His main "window" guy, Tim, was professional and responsive.  I could text or call Tim any time of the day and would know that he would pick up and answer all my questions without judgment.  The subs they used for actual window installation and new indoor trim were professional and reliable as well.  The new interior trim work was installed impeccably and stained to match.  We were VERY happy."

Windows questions, answered by experts

Steel windows are durable and last a long time, but not in all weather conditions. If you live near the ocean, these windows might not be the best choice, as the saltwater breeze can corrode the metal. Steel windows are also more expensive than other types of windows. However, with that high price point comes a sleek, distinctive design that many homeowners find appealing, especially for modern decor. You can also restore steel windows to get a longer lifespan from them, so they can last longer than vinyl, aluminum, and even wood.

Drafts, condensation between panes, difficulty operating, or visible frames or glass damage are signs of needed repairs.

Soundproof windows can’t completely block all noises, but they will significantly reduce sound from the road, sky, or your neighborhood’s weekend activities. Choose a soundproof window with an STC rating of at least 45 to block bass tones or loud conversations. Laminated glass windows can reduce noise by 75%. You can also add noise-reducing curtains to further muffle loud noises.

Yes, you can remove window tint from house windows. You can either use heat to loosen the film before peeling or scrape it away with a blade. You’ll also use a solution to wipe away any adhesive that still clings to the window.

Installing energy-efficient windows costs between $325 and $2,000, averaging about $400 per window. You’ll have to consider cost factors like the window’s size, frame material, and type. Labor costs in your area will also impact the overall cost of the project, with window installation professionals charging about $40 per hour on average. Different types of energy-efficient windows include:

  • Single-hung: $150–$2,500

  • Casement: $150–$600

  • Double-hung: $250–$3,000

  • Picture: $200–$650

  • Bay: $480–$1,920
