"We had a driveway poured just before winter of 2023. The driveway was approximately 12’ x 60’. We were given a free estimate. The project was scheduled to take 4 days. The project was right on schedule. Just like clockwork. Each team that showed up for their portion of the project were all professional concentrating on the task at hand. My wife & I were very satisfied with the driveway. Sue & Pete F."

"Al helped plan a landscaping project involving flattening a hill along one side of our driveway. He suggested a couple of solutions considering the entire cost of the project, not just his portion (for example including the cost of hauling soil vs. regrading vs. repair work to a sprinkler system). We also worked out a plan where we could relocate some of our natural stone wall.
He told us he had a month's work ahead of ours, which was a bit of a bummer since we would have preferred the work to start sooner, but the work started on schedule. The work was completed quickly and was exactly what we wanted and agreed to.
They solved our driveway problem!

"We are so impressed with the work, from start to finish! All I have to say is: Wow! L&R was one of the lowest bids that we received. Ron came to do our estimate, and was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He had great suggestions for what to do with our driveway and drainage issues. Every inch of the work they did for us was beautiful, with so much attention to detail. They put down straw over the raw dirt to reduce mud and erosion until grass grows in. Once the driveway was completed, they came back and filled in the dirt around the driveway, and even put back our planter, rocks, border and garden fence! The driveway turned out beautiful, and drains perfectly. The backyd is perfect. All the work they did with their laser sights really paid off. The neighbors have been commenting on how good it looks. When the work was done, Lyle came over to walk through the project with us and make sure we didn't have any questions. Now that's service! They fulfilled everything we asked to a T"

"Chris was professional, friendly and easy to deal with. Even though he hadn't installed any permeable driveways, he had installed permeable patios and didn't see any problems with doing something similar with my small driveway. He even suggested some options for reusing the water. I would have accepted Chris' proposal but I found someone who installed permeable driveways using recycled material which is what I initially wanted and was having a hard time finding.

"Our back yard is basically a mound of earth about 18" higher than the alley, so we needed a small retaining wall to keep dirt from washing out under a new fence. (The other sides have more grass and shrubbery to hold the soil.) It was a little tricky given that there is not much space between our yard and the neighbor's driveway on one side and the alley on the other. Paul is very knowledgable and communicates clearly, and he came up with a way to build the wall with smaller stones. The crew came, did the work, and cleaned up. It is very solid and held up well over the winter.

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Asphalt driveways last anywhere from 15 to 30 years, but if you don’t stay on top of repairs, you may find yourself spending extra to replace your driveway before its typical lifespan. Stay on top of repairing cracks and potholes by routinely inspecting your driveway once or twice a year. It’s a good idea to pressure wash your asphalt driveway at least once a year to keep it clean. Apply a sealer every one to five years, based on your climate.

Whether you should resurface or replace your asphalt driveway heavily depends on its condition. If the foundation is solid and the damage is minor, resurfacing is your best bet because it’s more affordable and faster than replacing the driveway. But if your driveway has foundational problems and/or severe damage, like large, deep cracks and potholes, then it makes more sense to replace it.

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.

Cobblestone is just one of many driveway materials. Other, more economical, albeit less elaborate options include concrete, asphalt, and gravel.

If you want a material that most closely resembles cobblestone, your best option is bricks or pavers. Both cost anywhere from $10 to $50 per square foot and can be laid in all kinds of patterns. Depending on the type of paver you choose, you can also get a good bang for your buck by investing in durable natural stone.

Yes, a paved or repaved driveway can boost your home's value by increasing its curb appeal and the functionality of your outdoor space. A new driveway can add anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000 to a property's value. An old, crumbling driveway can be a red flag for potential buyers and inspectors.

The amount of value added depends on the materials used, the design, and local market conditions. Concrete is often cited as adding the most value due to its long lifespan, though asphalt may be more desirable in colder climates. The return on investment is greatest when replacing a driveway that is in poor condition; repaving a driveway that is already in good shape will not yield as significant an increase in value.
