"Edison electric did five projects for me in less than one day. They showed up, all three of them, and completed the jobs as I requested. Always asking for my thoughts and showing me the best way to accomplish them. They were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. I will be using Edison Electric on future improvements I have planned for later. I will recommend Edison to everyone."

Great service and great price! Very happy with them and I will be calling them for my electrical needs from now on."

"Adam at Go Electric was awesome to work with! We wanted to add lights and outlets to our dark kitchen and living room. From start to finish Adam provided us his positive professional opinion to help match the ideas we had in mind. His can-do attitude and strong communication made him a 10/10 hire. "We purchased a St. Paul home built in 1900 knowing that we would have to replace the knob and tube wiring. Nordeast Electric performed a very thorough and fair estimate right after closing that was easy to understand. KC and John were very knowledgeable, efficient, courteous and easy going. They came up with solutions to every problem and respected the integrity of our home. They kept holes to a minimum while replacing the knob and tube in our plaster walls and they always cleaned up after themselves. We had no surprise costs or upcharges, just fair, honest work. Overall, they were great people and they did a great job! We couldn't be happier with the experience and in the words of KC, youâ  ll think Nordeast is Cool! Sweet! Awesome!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, tamper-resistant outlets are designed to be safe for use in homes with children. They feature a spring-loaded shutter that blocks the electrical slots when not in use, which helps protect children from electric shock if they try to insert an object. While they are the safest option available and highly effective, it's important to note that few things are truly 'childproof.' Children may still try to imitate adults by inserting a plug. For this reason, it's best to use tamper-resistant outlets over less effective solutions like plastic covers, which can be removed or pose a choking hazard. Always supervise young children around any electrical outlets or devices.

Yes, a faulty or broken light switch can be a serious fire hazard. Malfunctioning switches often result from loose wiring, exposed connections, or other electrical problems that can cause overheating or sparking. Warning signs include crackling, popping, or hissing sounds when you flip the switch, which indicates live electricity that could ignite nearby flammable materials. If you suspect your light switch is faulty, immediately turn off the power at the circuit breaker and contact a qualified electrician to remedy the issue.

It's recommended that you only use your circuit breaker for your water heater. Tacking on additional appliances, especially large ones like refrigerators, can overload the circuit and lead to electrical fires. Therefore, it's best to have separate circuits for each major appliance, particularly continuous load appliances, which use a lot of energy over prolonged periods of time.

An outlet can start a fire if it has blown a fuse, or is sparking, overheating, or smells burnt. Prevent electrical fires by unplugging the device connected to the outlet and hiring an electrician to determine and fix the outlet’s issue. If the outlet stays hot or isn't working, you should fix it.

Yes, you can use a 3/0 AWG wire for a 200 amp service, but only if it is made of copper, as 3/0 copper wire has an allowable ampacity of 225 amps. If you are using aluminum or aluminum copper-clad wire, you need to use at least 4/0 AWG.
