He arrived at our home on time and quickly diagnosed two problems. Although he had another service call to make at 5:00 pm, he returned at 7:30 with the required parts (three in all-two from his warehouse and one from an auto parts store) and finished the job. Since the weather was in the 90's every day, we were extremely grateful for his willingness to provide same day, after-hours service. "I found water damage in the morning and after considerable investigation, determined that it was from a pinhole leak in a water pipe in the basement.  I had to turn off the main water valve to stop the leak, so I needed to repair this quickly.  I have used Burkhardt Plumbing before with success, so I called them again.  They were able to come that afternoon ( I called around noon) and Dean arrived within the promised time slot. 



He fixed the leak, and also advised me that it was probably due to insulation around the pipe which was held in place by small wires.  The insulation around the wire itself was decaying (probably installed 40 years ago) and could have caused an electrostatic charge (?) between the two metals which would corrode the copper pipe.  I appreciated this extra information, so that I can remove the rest of the insulation and prevent future leaks (the insulation was put on to prevent condensation and is no longer necessary).   I thought the cost of the repair was fair.

"Difficult job - in hind-sight, both doors should have been replaced. Original bid was for replacement of one of the doors and repair of the other.  The repairman decided to attempt repair of both doors.
