"The service was quickly provided by two gentlemen, one being the owner. They were happy to allow me to observe the process so that i could understand how my fireplace works and what needed to be serviced."

"Let me tell you, I had searched the internet for someone that would be able to convert our wood burning fireplace to a gas fireplace. I came upon Robertâ s company, read the reviews, and called him. I received a response from him right away and the rest is history. His work ethics along with his outstanding craft gave us the most beautiful fireplace insert in our family room. He also was able to hang our new 65â TV over the fireplace that is separated by the mantle. I highly recommend RPF Construction!"

"The mark of a good service company is the lack of need to take on an additional project (clean up) after the project is completed. This is definitely the case with CJW Chimney Sweep! Greg and Will placed runners all the way from the front door to the fireplace completely covering the tile and wood floor that was trafficked. In addition the entire fireplace hearth was covered. After their efficient professional work, there was NOTHING left to clean up. This is very highly appreciated which is exactly why we are repeat customers."

Small jobs welcome

"Best Brick was able to squeeze us into their schedule quickly- which is what we were hoping for. They made sure we knew what they were doing throughout the process of cleaning and capping our chimney (just moved into the house), and then made sure we were familiar with the basics of using the fireplace and the type of damper. Great service."

"Steve did a wonderful job replacing our outdated pre fab fireplace unit at a reasonable price. The new unit is AMAZING, it warms the room very quickly, the log placement looks natural, and the logs glow when the unit is on for a while, just as natural wood does. He was very professional, cleaned everything when he left, and let us know of other services he provides which we will be hiring him for at a later date!"

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on appliance age, issue complexity, part availability, and labor rates.

Even though ventless fireplaces are safe to use overall, you shouldn’t let them run for more than a few hours per day. It’s also important to make sure the room with the fireplace is well-ventilated. If not, the water vapor from the fire could increase the humidity levels in your home, potentially resulting in mold growth.

You can close up a chimney instead of demolishing it. Homeowners often go this route because the cost of removing a chimney, especially a structurally important chimney, can be expensive.

Properly closing up a chimney involves closing and sealing the damper, installing a chimney cap damper, and sealing the fireplace opening with a door or bricks. The cost to seal and cap a chimney is around $500 to $650—significantly less than the average chimney removal cost.

You’ll need vented logs if you have a vented gas fireplace and vent-free logs if you have a ventless gas fireplace. If you aren’t sure which type of fireplace you have, contact a local gas fireplace service. They’ll help identify your fireplace and explain which type of logs you need to run it.

How to light a gas fireplace depends on the particular model of gas fireplace you have in your home. In most cases, you can light gas fireplaces using a control panel, remote, key, or switch. You should reference your fireplace’s manual to see how your unit operates.
