"This is the 2nd house that I've had Matt and his team install fencing to enclose my backyard. He made it all even easy and worry free. The installation transpired without any issues. It took 2 days to install. When they were done, it was like the fence was always there. No debris, it was all cleaned up and ready to enjoy."

"Nosh drilled small holes in areas of the driveway and used a special machine to put concrete under the slab of existing concrete to raise it up. It looks better but Nosh has high standards for himself. He was not happy with the results. He was able to see that the person who originally put the driveway in didn't use proper materials. This caused support material to wash away. There were very large spaces under the slabs that would take multiple truck loads of concrete to fill them in. Nosh did not feel right about charging for his work. He and his employee worked very hard all day but he would only allow me to pay for the materials he used. It is not very often you find someone as honest, diligent and has the high standards he has. In addition, he is very fair with what he charges."

"All the work performed for the coupon was done very well. Doug is a good worker and was quick as well as professional. I did try to book additional work with Terry, the owner, but he did not get back to me with a quote to remove and rebuild two decks along with a landing and 14 stairs. I called him several times, emailed, and texted, but he said he was waiting for quotes from places like Home Depot and Lowe's I believe. Finally we went with another contractor who was able to give us a quote within a day, and completed the work over the next week and a half. By the time Terry contacted me again, four weeks later, our deck was done. Terry said he had an emergency in Florida and was unable to contact us during that time. Having been in customer service for years, it seems to me if you had an emergency, you'd give your open items to someone in your company so that they could call all the customers and explain what happened instead of making them wait in limbo, stupidly thinking you are interested in doing their little project. I notice in an earlier post a few months ago, Terry had another emergency in Florida and did not return phone calls for quite awhile. Before this all happened, Terry was the one we wanted to go with for our decks, but he made it impossible to do so. Even Doug, the worker, asked if I had gotten a quote yet...turns out Doug would have been one of the ones building our deck so he was looking forward to the work.

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Fencing in Troy requires seasonal care to withstand local weather. Each spring, check for frost heave and repair any loose posts. In summer, power wash and reseal wood fences to prevent moisture damage. Fall is ideal for clearing leaves and trimming nearby plants. During winter, promptly remove heavy snow from all fence types. For metal fences, apply rust protection to combat Troy’s road salt exposure.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Troy often overlook the need for proper permits, HOA approvals, and notifying neighbors before starting fence installation. The area’s clay soil and deep frost line require specialized post installation, which can add time. Many underestimate how Michigan’s weather limits the installation window and impacts material choices. It’s also common to forget budgeting for extra concrete, site inspections, and potential utility line issues.

Helpful?

Troy’s freeze-thaw cycles and heavy snowfall can shift fence posts and stress materials. Deep-set posts are essential for stability, especially in clay soil. Spring’s wet ground may delay fence installation, while summer and early fall offer the best conditions. Choose fencing materials like pressure-treated wood or vinyl that resist moisture and wind to ensure your fence installation in Troy lasts longer.

Helpful?

Professionals in Troy begin by marking utilities and confirming property boundaries to ensure safety and compliance. They assess the site’s soil and drainage, especially given Troy’s clay soil and deep frost line. Securing permits comes next, followed by installing posts deep enough for frost protection. Once the structure is stable, they focus on weatherproofing, ensuring long-term durability, and maintaining easy access for future fence repairs or maintenance.

Helpful?

Combining fence installation with other home projects in Troy can reduce disruption and streamline labor. Coordinating with landscaping, patio, or driveway work helps avoid repeated digging and site preparation. Scheduling utility checks or drainage improvements at the same time prevents future complications. Applying for permits and arranging material deliveries together can also save time, making your home upgrades more efficient during Troy’s busy construction season.
