"So I originally had an appointment for March of 2026 because of weather and they are booked. I understand now why. Monday morning I received a call from Forman Carter S and he said looks like he can get me done before winter. I was pleased and excited to get my porch fixed. So he came out the next day he had available. That morning he called me let me know he was on the way and made sure the timing would work because I had an appointment to go to. Since he called me that Monday communication was perfect had no issue getting a hold of him. They showed up we went over what he is going to do and how it was. He also took steps make sure that the lifting foam was going mess up my basement so he ensured that the foam would stay outside. He treated my house like his own. "Salesman here 6 hrs. Quoted over $30lk got down to $25,500. No, it’s not recommended to attach shutters to brick without drilling. Brick is dense and built to last, so adhesives and shortcut methods don’t usually cut it. Even heavy-duty glue struggles to hold up over time—especially against wind, moisture, and temperature changes. Most no-drill options are made for materials like vinyl or wood, not solid masonry. Skipping the drill might seem easier, but it puts your shutters—and anything below them—at risk. For a secure, lasting install, drilling is the way to go. It takes more effort up front, but the result is safer and more reliable.

Masonry work tends to be more expensive because the materials can be costly, such as natural stone and brick. Masonry is also very labor intensive, typically making up 50% or more of the final project cost. In addition, quality masonry work requires years of training and experience, as with any skilled trade.

Yes, technically, you can pressure wash the paint off of brick. However, you run a much greater risk of damaging the brick and causing serious problems. If you go this route, you’ll still need to carefully choose and apply a chemical paint stripper before washing, following all instructions on the product packaging. Set your power washer to a low pressure to avoid damage.

You will repoint over a fraction of the old mortar, but you should scrape away 1/2 to 1 inch of mortar from the joints before repointing.
