"I contacted The Crack Team for foundation wall crack waterproofing after finding water near our utility lines and basement corner. They arrived on time, answered all my questions, and did clean work. What impressed me most was how respectful and honest the crew was throughout the whole process. The leaking stopped completely and the area looks great now."

"Very well. Pisani was the lower (40% lower) of two estimates I received from well-rated Angie List providers (the lower pricing may have been a special case because I had a small job which perhaps fit into the early spring weather which may limit the types of jobs masons can commit to). Gregg was easy to talk to and took the time to explain what was needed to do the job right. I was pleased that they schedule the job even earlier than I thought they could when we had temporary break in the rainy colder weather. His people came on time and were very professional and efficient in doing the job. I was very satisfied with the results. Gregg came at the end of the job to make sure I was satisfied and everything had been done right and in accordance with what we had agreed. Would have no hesitation considering to use them in future masonry work."

"I first hired Yellow Rose Builders in 2023 for tuckpointing and they did a great job. That work has held up perfectly with no issues as of 2026. This year I brought them back for more tuckpointing, siding repairs, weep holes, gutters, and a full roof replacement. I worked with Greg and his crews both times. He quickly found the source of a leak others missed and took ownership of fixing it. There was water damage, and they handled the full repair of the affected wall, including siding, framing, electrical, and drywall. While some companies were uninterested in tackling parts of the project, Greg’s team stepped up and got my kitchen and house livable again. I’m truly grateful. They were professional, used quality materials (Owens Corning Duration shingles), and never tried to upsell me. Pricing was reasonable and cleanup was excellent. You’d never know they’d been here after the roof work. It’s still early but everything looks great so far. Highly recommend them and would hire again."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

A fireplace is, by definition, an enclosed space where you burn wood or other fuel for the purpose of generating light and heat. A firepit burns wood and is much less expensive to build, but they aren’t technically a fireplace as it isn’t enclosed. An outdoor oven—commonly outdoor brick pizza ovens—often uses wood as fuel, but its primary purpose is to cook food, and you’d rarely just burn wood inside them for warmth or aesthetic reasons.

A chimney cleaning brick or log can help loosen creosote between professional chimney cleaning appointments. Although they can help keep your chimney cleaner, they are not a substitute for chimney sweeping and are not meant to be used regularly.

This is largely dependent on the size and hardness of the rock, but a range of tools might work, including hammers, chisels, rock hammers, sledge hammers, and more. You'll need a jackhammer for the very biggest rock-breaking jobs.

No, it’s not recommended to attach shutters to brick without drilling. Brick is dense and built to last, so adhesives and shortcut methods don’t usually cut it. Even heavy-duty glue struggles to hold up over time—especially against wind, moisture, and temperature changes. Most no-drill options are made for materials like vinyl or wood, not solid masonry. Skipping the drill might seem easier, but it puts your shutters—and anything below them—at risk. For a secure, lasting install, drilling is the way to go. It takes more effort up front, but the result is safer and more reliable.

Yes, concrete is significantly stronger than masonry, especially if the concrete pour includes reinforcements, like steel rebar. Concrete is a uniform material that can withstand compression, sheer force, and tensile force as long as it’s reinforced. Masonry involves the use of mortar or grout to connect individual building materials, like brick, stone, or tile. Mortar and grout are also reasonably strong and resist compression well, but they don’t come close to the strength of poured concrete.
