Todd P. is an independent contractor who works for Blue Water Pools in Port Huron, Michigan. Blue Water Pools provided us with his phone number when we wanted a pool liner installed. Blue Water Pools gave us a price of $450.00-500.00 to have our own liner installed. We contacted Todd and he gave us a price of $775.00 because "the pool was next to a deck". Keep in mind this was an installation of our OWN liner we had purchased online and was for Todd P's labor only!. He said He decides the price on his work, NOT Blue Water Pools. His price was considerably higher than what the store had quoted us and we told Todd this and he said that he would also hook up the PVC pipes to our swimming pool and Blue Water would take care of the Hayward Heater repair which we also needed done (as he didn't do heaters). He never did the job correctly. First, he said our liner we purchased online wouldn't work, even though the box said it was the right size, and we did end up having to return it and purchased a $530.00 liner from Blue Water Pools, which we had to go pick up at their store. After he installed the liner he left our home. The next day he sent a few young boys out to complete the job of hooking up the pipes. Since the water level in the pool was not to the point where the pump could be turned on and the pipes checked for leaks, one of the boys collected the money and signed a hand-written (by us) receipt and said that if there were any leaks that Todd would come back and fix the leaks. These details were also written out on the receipt WE had provided, (since I have a hard time just paying out nearly $800.00 in cash and not even have any sort of proof of it: hence, our hand written receipt). There were 5 leaks (2 due to gaskets, 3 just not tightened enough) and we contacted Todd to let him know. He sent 4 boys to supposedly fix the leaks, however, when they came they said they didn't have the parts ( $2.00 gaskets) on their truck to complete the job. If Todd knew there were leaks, why did he not send the boys with the parts they needed to fix them? I had even texted him before they came, took pictures of the leaks and told him what we probably needed (O-rings/gaskets). I called Todd several times and he finally got back to me, basically stating that he only does liners and this wasn't his problem. In other words, reneging on his original verbal agreement when giving us the original job quote. All of this after we paid him $775.00, $275.00 of this was to hook-up the pipes which he did not do. Also, we never received a receipt from him after he said he would mail our receipt to us. Maybe he takes all his money "under the table" and that's the reason for no receipt; BTW, when I first met him I asked if he was licensed, and he said he was, which I seriously doubt after all this.
Blue Water Pools gave us a price of $450-$500 to install the liner. Their installer Todd charged $785.00 and agreed to hook up our PVC pipes and he did not do this properly. We had to pay another company to do what we paid him to do. Money is hard to come by, when you are on a fixed income. All I can say to myself is live and learn!!!

I had been in contact with several other area plumbers (Superior in Cass City) and plumbing contractor houses (Shetler in Pigeon, MI; Kundinger and Kroll in Sebewaing and Shelby Mechanical, LLC) before calling Dependable in Bay City. All of the others either didn't want to drive the distance to do the job, were too busy already with other work and could not give me a time they would be able to do the work or made promises to return my phone calls and failed to do so or took my call with a promise to get back with me later in the day about when they would show up but again failed to do so. But Dependable not only were ready to accept the job they asked me when I wanted them to start!!! They then gave me a time to expect them TODAY and met every other criterion I can think of a business that appreciates being able to make their customers happy. I was quite pleased-- even impressed-- with the ability of this service person to get the job done exactly as advertized. I have a house probably built back in the 1920's and a lot of DYI work has been done by previous owners. Most of it very amateurishly done and often incorrectly using whatever parts they could scrounge up. My drains in the kitchen are a "gordian knot" of elbows and t's of pvc compression fittings and it lacks a vent of any kind. Also, the traps are nearly corroded through and the dishwasher is not properly connected to the garbage disposal. The plumber when he had finished clearing my drains and verifying that no other emergency repairs were needed outlined what work he would see performed were the kitchen his own. He wrote it up as an estimate and priced the job quite reasonably . I plan on having Dependable Sewer Service back next Thursday or Friday to do all of the recommended follow-up work.

I was particully concerned as I had put an all weather sealant on some other chairs (3 coats) and they looked bad after one year of use. I was told that these would hold up to the weather and that they leave them out during the winter. The chairs were delivered and shortly thereafter the arms developed sever cracks, they ordered new arms for the worst chair and I went and picked them up. These chairs were stored indoors over the fall/winter/spring. When I put them out they had severly discolored, (Blackened) I called the store and spoke with the owner (Wife) she said her husband (Tony) would come out and look at them. a week later he called and then came out to inspect them. He advised me that they weren't THAT bad, that they had had some the year before that were totally black! All I needed to do was buy a deck cleaner and clean them and restain/seal them. I want the ones that looked great after three years! I don't think the materials used to stain/seal them was of a good quality (Home Depot doesn't carry it anymore). I paid a premium price and expected a quality product. The wife said they would make it right, the husband said he was sorry there was nothing he would do. "Bob and Matt were fantastic to work with. Matt took my design sketch and transformed it into a great plan. Most of the contractors they brought in were also top notch. They accommodated a late change request without hesitation. They were easy to work with, especially since I wanted to do some of the finish work myself. I highly recommend them, and suggest booking them as soon as you can, because they get a lot of referrals and quickly fill their schedule."

FAQs for deck repair projects in Oscoda, MI
While the terms deck and porch are often used interchangeably, they are two distinct home features. Porches offer a roof that protects from the elements when coming and going from the house. Generally, porches are on the front of your home. On the other hand, decks are generally built in the backyard of a home and offer no roof or protection from the elements, like rain or snow. Porches typically require less maintenance and upkeep thanks to the roof, but both features require regular cleaning and repairs to maintain good condition.
There are a few ways to make your deck look new without professional power washing. First, you can use either store-bought cleaners or dish soap and water to mop your deck regularly to clean off accumulated dirt. To clean your deck and remove mold, mix two gallons of warm water with a ½ cup of distilled white vinegar or apple cider vinegar, rinse the area, and then scrub with a stiff-bristled broom.
For an average deck of about 300 square feet, you can expect to pay around $100. However, if you have a spacious 1,000-square-foot deck or more, expect that cost to be closer to $300 to $400. Likewise, if it’s been a long time since you deep cleaned your deck, the deck professional might need extra time and to use deck-specific detergent, which will increase the overall cost.
You should have your deck professionally cleaned twice a year—once in the spring and once in the fall. A springtime cleaning wipes away grime and mold that accumulated during the wet winter months, making it sparkly clean for summer use. Likewise, cleaning your deck in the fall allows you to wash away grease and leftover mess from the fun summer months rather than letting them soak into your deck over the winter.
The cost to build a deck is $8,025 on average. However, this cost can range anywhere from $1,500 to $22,000, depending on multiple factors, such as size, materials, and deck type. You can expect to pay $30 to $60 per square foot when building a new deck.
Cedar decks are often the most cost-effective option, ranging from $4 to $9per square foot for materials. However, pressure-treated decking, which is resistant to rot, is more expensive, ranging from $15 to $25 per square foot for materials.
