"The locksmith, Sam, arrived punctually. He installed a new storm door lock and additionally repaired the face hole of another door lock which had been installed by someone else years ago & needed repair. The price was a bit high, but the professional workmanship was worth it."

"The crew was very polite and always asked me how I wanted things done. When I wasn't sure which way I wanted something they were full of excellent suggestions. Hanging doors is a tricky business and these guys didn't stop until the doors were hung perfectly. They worked hard without goofing around and were meticulous with their clean up. They also told me the least expensive way to do things to save me money rather than pad their bill. They also did a great job of crown molding for us. They are GOOD people!"

"We had them replace stairs and our lower deck at the lake house. Sales representative was very good and did tell us it would be a while before the work would be started. Took a bit longer than â the whileâ we anticipated based on his estimate and I friend calling to check on the status of the project. Thatâ s the only thing Iâ d mark them down on: communication while waiting. Installation team was good and cleaned the area well. Very happy with the results."

Doors questions, answered by experts

Completing door service projects in Lansing provides immediate benefits like reduced drafts, improved comfort, and enhanced curb appeal. Over time, well-maintained doors increase property value, require less frequent repairs, and offer better protection against Michigan’s unpredictable weather. Energy-efficient upgrades and smart security features also attract buyers and renters, making your home more appealing in the local market.

Helpful?

Lansing’s fluctuating weather means door service projects must address both harsh winters and humid summers. Cold months can cause metal components to corrode and wood to contract, while summer humidity leads to swelling and sticking. Spring and fall are ideal for installations, as milder temperatures help materials settle. Year-round, it’s important to check seals and finishes to prevent drafts and moisture intrusion.

Helpful?

For minor door service projects in Lansing, start by applying lubricant to squeaky hinges and tightening loose screws, especially after winter’s freeze-thaw cycles. Lightly sand swollen door edges caused by humidity, and check for gaps where drafts enter. Replace weather stripping if you notice daylight around the frame. Always wear safety glasses when working with metal parts, and clear away any ice or debris near entryways for safety.

Helpful?

For door service projects in Lansing, fiberglass doors are highly recommended for their resistance to moisture and temperature swings. Steel doors with insulated cores offer strong security and energy efficiency. Treated wood or composite doors work well with regular upkeep. Use stainless steel or brass hardware to prevent rust, and install high-quality weather stripping, foam sealant, and exterior-grade caulk to keep doors well-sealed.

Helpful?

Lansing homeowners are choosing energy-efficient fiberglass doors that resist warping during Michigan’s seasonal changes. Smart locks and integrated video doorbells are increasingly popular for added security. Craftsman and mid-century styles complement many local homes, while deep green and charcoal finishes are trending. Many opt for storm doors with retractable screens, and rental properties often select durable, low-maintenance materials for longevity.
