Yes, cockroaches can climb into most beds. It’s not always their first choice, but they may be attracted to the warmth of a bed and mattress. They’re much more likely to hop aboard if someone eats food in bed. Don’t let crumbs or clutter accumulate in your bed or face a potential roach infestation.

Ticks are most commonly found behind (or even inside) ears, behind knees, in belly buttons, in the hair, and in your underarms. If you find a tick on your body or on your pet, use a pair of clean tweezers to grab the tick as close to the surface of your skin as possible. If you simply yank or twist it, you can leave the tick’s mouth parts lodged in your skin and will need to remove those carefully with the tweezers. 

Once you have removed the tick, flush it down the toilet and wash your skin with rubbing alcohol or soap and water. Know the signs of lyme disease such as fever, chills, headache, muscle aches, and a rash.

When baiting traps for iguanas, avoid using herbs, fruits, and vegetables that are toxic to them, such as fresh sage, rosemary, avocados, and eggplants. While fresh, ripe fruit is effective at attracting iguanas, be cautious of pits and seeds from fruits like apples, pears, and peaches, as they are highly toxic. Additionally, steer clear of citrus fruits, a natural deterrent to iguanas.

Most people can get rid of drain flies within a week as long as they remain persistent. This is especially important if you’re using a gentler method like vinegar or boiling water. Any eggs left behind can hatch, and the problem can start all over again. If you can’t get rid of the flies within a week or two, consider hiring a pro.

If you find a tick inside crawling in the house, remember not to just step on it or try to crush it. Ticks have hard bodies and it’s hard to kill them this way. Instead, pick it up with toilet paper and flush it. You can also place it in a sealed bag, or kill it by placing it in alcohol.
