"This company is obviously nationwide and hires local contractors.  I trusted Agies List that all contractors are licensed, bonded and have background checks.  This person was a handyman and not qualified to wall mount, conceal wires, add electrical outlet.  He  spend five hours in my home, for a job that should have taken two hours and left the area in a disaster.  The TV was hung close to the ceiling, the wires were hanging down from the TV, and the receiver was sitting on top of a plaster box because the cord was too short.  He was obviously not qualified to install TV wall mounts.  I have photos.    As soon as he left, I called Best Buy Geek Squad.  They were able to come out the next day and mount the TV professionally.  I have used the geek squad in Virginia and they are highly qualified.  They charge more than this nationwide company but you get what you pay for.  I called Angies List the day after the disaster and said i did not want to rate this company but I wanted to talk to a manager. No one called me to apologize. I have cancelled my membership.  Do not use this company unless you can be assured that the local contractor is qualified and is licensed.  You should never let anyone into your home that has not had background checks.

"There were many things wrong in my computer (my fault and letting grandchildren on computer) Robert was so helpful, gave me many good instructions to keep everything safe, which I have written down, feel like I have a new computer. He was so excellent and experienced, took his time and was meticulous about what needed to be done. He was a pleasure to work with and I will use this company again! Linda Disy"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Ishpeming, overloading outlets with space heaters or running multiple high-wattage appliances on one circuit can overheat wiring and damage breakers. Using extension cords as permanent solutions, especially for heating, increases fire risk. Letting basement moisture go unchecked can corrode connections. Failing to maintain outdoor outlet covers allows snow and ice inside, while neglecting generator maintenance can strain your home’s electrical system.

Helpful?

In Ishpeming, flickering lights when your furnace or appliances start, frequent circuit breaker trips during winter, or outlets that stop working after heavy snow indicate possible electrical issues. Watch for rust or corrosion on your electrical panel, a persistent burning smell, or GFCI outlets that won’t reset. Warm switch plates and buzzing sounds are also red flags that electrical work may need professional attention.

Helpful?

In Ishpeming, areas like basements and crawl spaces often need electrical updates due to persistent dampness from snowmelt, which can affect wiring and circuit breakers. Outdoor lighting and outlets face wear from freeze-thaw cycles, while older kitchens may lack modern GFCI outlets. Detached garages and sheds frequently require new wiring to handle today’s equipment, especially in homes built during the mining era.

Helpful?

For electrical upkeep in Ishpeming, keep a non-contact voltage tester for safe checks, a GFCI outlet tester for kitchens and bathrooms, and a moisture meter for monitoring damp basements. Stock up on wire nuts, electrical tape, and heavy-duty extension cords rated for cold weather. Reliable flashlights and headlamps are essential during outages, especially since winter storms can make hardware store trips challenging.

Helpful?

Completing electrical projects in Ishpeming offers immediate benefits like safer, more reliable power—crucial during cold winters when heating systems must perform. Upgrading wiring and electrical panels can improve energy efficiency, reducing strain on your furnace and lowering utility usage. Over time, you’ll enjoy increased property value, fewer electrical repairs, and better support for modern appliances, all while ensuring your home meets current safety codes.
