However, if you are certain that the capacitor failed and you take all precautions to avoid electric shock, you can take a look yourself. Usually, you can open the front panel of the unit and use a flashlight to find the small capacitor cylinder. It should have a sticker on it that provides its product number, capacity, and similar information that you can note when talking to a contractor.

Most appliance retailers have dedicated installation teams that can tackle the delivery and installation process simultaneously. Unfortunately, just because a retailer sells a specific appliance brand doesn’t mean that its installation technicians are certified by that manufacturer to complete the installation. You could end up with a voided warranty if the installer isn't certified, costing more money down the road. It’s best to find an installer that is certified by your appliance manufacturer, even if it means paying more or dealing with potential scheduling conflicts.
