"Thank you for taking the time to leave the review. Michael is a great technician!"
"Thank you for the review [Member Name Removed]. Mike is a great guy! Glad you were happy with the service."
"Please call me to discuss as i am not sure what your complaint is. We sent a technician to your home very quickly, he diagnosed the problem, and gave you a quote to repair your product properly. Your repair required parts, specifically the motor that we would have to order and the repair was somewhat expensive.. You had declined to do the proper repair. Our technician spent considerable time diagnosing and he did get your dishwasher to work temporarily, This was NOT a repair nor was it ever intended to be a repair. We had only charged you the service call. We would be more than happy to repair your dishwasher! Simply approve the quote you were given at time of service. I can assure you the technician you had is a great guy, hard working, dedicated and lives customer service. I am sorry you took my technician'[Member Information Removed] attempt to get you going until repairs are made as poor service. He was very disappointed you left an unfavorable complaint unfairly. I can also assure you his professionalism is unquestionable."
We hired Dave Smiths Appliance due to the extensive A+ reviews, and were incredibly disappointed and the decision cost us a lot of money. We had a 5 year old Kenmore front loading washer that was having an intermittent ?UE? code, which was keeping our spin cycle from getting enough speed to drain the water from the clothes. The ?UE? code indicates unbalanced load, which is read by the load sensing technology of this unit. Dave?s sent a technician out, who ran an empty cycle and could not get it to error (which we feel was not a useful way to test the load sensing function since there was no load to sense), and he left. It malfunctioned again, so the same technician came out again and this time ran a cycle with clothes, which did trigger the error. At this point he gave a broad diagnosis that it was either the circuit board or motor, but didn?t seem sure which one it was, and gave an estimate for replacements. My husband had said from the beginning that he thought it was just a sensor, so we were hesitant to pay such a high cost for replacement of major parts that may not be bad. So, we waited and a few days later it malfunctioned again, but this time gave a new code ?LE? so we called them back. A new technician arrived, we told him what the new error code was, he was not familiar with it, and he started disassembling the machine. While I was in the other room, I heard a very, very loud banging (on metal); my husband could even hear it from where he was in the basement. About 5 minutes later the technician came out and told me that I would be out shopping on Black Friday for a new washer because the problem was bad bearings, and the cost would equal just getting a new washer. Well, bad bearings make a distinct rumbling sound which our washer never displayed for us, or for the previous technician so we were totally puzzled. We decided to call a Sears technician out for a second opinion. A week later he arrived and within minutes told us that he could not even test the machine because there was a bolt missing from the basket. He proceeded to get our credit card info, order the $6 bolt and reschedule to come out after the bolt came in. He returned a week later with the bolt and within minutes he discovered that the bolt was not actually missing, but in fact, broken off (lets recall that very loud banging that Dave?s technician was making). At this point, he said it will be at least $275 to replace the basket, not including labor, just to fix what was now broken before he could even begin to diagnose the original problem. So he left, I called the parts department at Sears, gave the phone rep the ?LE? error code, which she looked up on her computer and within minutes told me it was ?washer rotor motor position sensor? and that it would cost us $27. Really? Well now we had a washer that Dave?s technician probably accidently broke, decided not to tell us, and we were stuck with the bill. SO, my husband called and talked to Dave himself, said we were not looking to get money but wanted him to know what transpired. Dave was agitated, stated that his technicians are highly skilled and that we must be in the wrong. He said he would pick up the washer, figure out what was wrong with it in order to further prove us wrong. He picked it up the following day?that was nearly 4 months ago, we have not heard anything from them since. The technicians were very nice, but Kenmore doesn?t even publish the schematics for these new machines and that makes these technicians less capable of fixing them. Needless to say, we now have a top loading speed queen, made in the USA and love it.
"Thank you for the great review. I really do appreciate it. It was a simple thing and your oven really didn't need anything additional. Fortunately just the service call. Thanks again for business. Sincerely, Dave Smith (owner)"
"This review is very inaccurate to say the least. I believe you are venting your anger toward the wrong party here. We have no say in determining if a repair is covered under a particular service agreement. The warranty company that you had signed up with declined the repair because of the high cost of the repair. I am sorry it could not be worked out between you. We are a subcontractor authorized to perform work as approved by your warranty company. We must also perform these repairs as per your warranty companies guidelines. We are very capable of preforming any repair on your machine that is needed. In fact, all of our technicains are Certified Master Technicians and our company is a Certified Service Center as well. To say we could not fix it is untrue. It is unfortunate that you decided to take your aggravations with your warranty company on us by writing a poor review. This entire situation is beyond our control. We never charged you anything as our service call only was paid for by your warranty company. I would normally ask any customer that is unsatisfied with us for any reason contact us directly to work it out, but there is little we can do. I would recommend that anyone purchasing an extended warranty on their product do their due diligence and read the fine print before purchasing. Sincerely, Dave Smith (owner)"
"I am glad for you that your machine is working... for now. Your machine has a faulty control board. Our technician ran a complete diagnostic check of your machine and your control showed 2 faults. We cleared out the codes and reset your board. This is what repaired it,.. for now. That part will likely fail again, but we can never now when. We needed to quote you the price of the control replacement because it will most likely fail again, in time. Yes this is an expensive repair. Our average repair is about 125.00 The part for your repair cost alone is over 300.00 with tax and shipping, we quoted you 487.00 balance after the service call. Also this cost reflected additional labor of a partial reassembly and rechecking because you had been working on the machine yourself prior to our arrival. This was not helpful and in fact added some additional cost to the repair quote. I am sorry we couldn't make you happy. Please call around to check for yourself the price of the part it is #8182308 control board.I believe you are misunderstanding the nature of the repair. I am sorry our technician did not explain this adequately to you, he is an exceptionally good technician. If you have any additional questions feel free to contact me anytime. I will always attempt to make you a satisfied customer."
My Whirlpool washer had a mysterious leak which required three service calls before they determined exactly what was causing the problem. On the first visit Michael disabled the bleach dispenser in an effort to stop the leak without requiring a costly parts replacement. Unfortunately, that did not solve the problem. Second technician (visit #2) seemed irritated about being on the call from the moment he walked into the house. He ran a test cycle, said something about it being "unusual" to continue to have problems with the machine, and left.
At that point I was very unhappy & had decided not to call them back (even though my washer was still leaking). While complaining to a friend about the situation, she encouraged me to voice my dissatisfaction regarding the second service tech. I'm very glad I decided to take her advice. As I spoke with Barb, she very patiently listened to my story & validated my concerns/frustrations. Her parting words were, "I hope you'll give us the chance to make this right, as we really try to offer each customer 100% satisfaction."
The next day I called to have them set up yet another service call. They scheduled the Service Manager (Nick) to come out. He arrived promptly, ran a few test cycles, found the cause of the leak, and replaced the bad part. Nick was very friendly, patient, informative, and professional. He and Michael (first tech) both put on paper booties before they came into my home (second tech did not). To me, taking the time to do this is a gesture of respect for the customer's home & is greatly appreciated.
I believe Dave Smith's honestly strives to provide excellent customer service/satisfaction. They have some very caring, competent, and capable employees. A big thank you to Barb and Nick for "saving the day!"
