"We had some sewage back up into our basement sink on a Saturday morning. I called Clog Busters based on their Angie’s List reviews. They didn’t have a crew available on the weekend, but were available on the following Monday. The crew did a great job explaining the problem and finding a solution for me. Great customer service and they earned their money working in some frigid and snowy weather. I hope to never have another sewer backup, but if I do, I will call Clog Busters."

"Great. I called Monday when it became obvious that the wax seals on both our toilets had failed, i.e. faint "sewer" smell despite cleaning. Logan was able to come out Tuesday to do the work. I'm so glad he did. Normally resetting or installing a toilet is a possible DIY job. However, when Logan got into the job, it was obvious that this was beyond the scope of our skills: both flanges had been cracked, not to mention various other problems. The quality of the work and the peace of mind was well worth the cost. Oh, and I want to add that not only were they able to get us in at the last minute (at no extra charge), Logan arrived on time (of course), and left the area cleaner that it had been when arrived (removed shoes, put down drop cloths throughout the house - from front door to toilet, swept, wiped up, etc.)"

"Randy and his team showed up on a Sunday (the best time for my family) and removed a falling down shed and hauled the remains to the driveway, where they stacked it neatly. They prepped the area for the new shed by digging up the area, hauling 3 yards of limestone that was put in our driveway for their use, used a compressor and compressed and leveled the area. The entire work site was cleaned, the driveway swept and the excess limestone shoveled into a smaller pile and covered with a tarp. The whole process was done in 5 hours and we couldn't be more pleased with the whole experience. We are hoping to hire this team next spring for more work we need done. So professional and very pleasant to work with."

"They did a pretty good job. They fixed her grass as well after they were done. They cleaned up and didn’t leave a mess. They had some good employees who were professional. They came out the same day that my mom called them. They were out the next day to do the job."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The average cost to snake your main sewer line is around $250 for a simple snake. Most sewer line specialists charge between $45 and $200 per hour for main sewer line snaking, so the time involved plays a major role. The price you’ll pay will depend on the severity of the clog, the item causing the backup, how long it takes to remove the item, and more. A more severe issue that requires unclogging a main sewer line will cost $3,100 on average.

A two-way cleanout can help if there’s already a clog, but the best strategy to prevent one is by not rinsing grease, oil, or fat down your drains, not flushing or rinsing coffee grounds or egg shells down your drains, flushing only human waste and toilet paper (so no diapers, period products, bathroom wipes, or paper towels), and using drain guards on all of your drains.

No, you should not see water in a sewer cleanout. If you do, it could indicate that you have a block or leak in your main sewer line—which can cause sewage to back up inside your home and potentially flood your yard. Your best bet is to call a local sewer cleaner if you notice any water or sewage around your cleanout.

Water leaking through your basement floor is a good sign of a clogged drain, but another sign of a clogged basement floor drain can include unpleasant odors coming from the drain. Also, hearing gurgling noises when water drains from the basement or having other plumbing fixtures (like toilets or other drains) backing up is a good indicator.

To get rid of a sewer smell in your crawl space, you’ll have to find the source of the problem. If it has to do with your sewer lines, then repairing the line will help. You may need to make other repairs, like fixing your sump pump or encapsulating your crawl space to reduce moisture. After you make the repair, depending on the issue, you may still need to clean out your crawl space to get rid of the stink.
