"This company has several communication issues. First I had an appt for my door to be measured at 10 am. On the day of the appointment, I received a text at 930 and an email that my appt was now between Noon and 4pm. I decided I would run some errands and when went to leave the contractor was here at 10:00 to measure the door as originally scheduled. I told him that they had notified me of the change but they Never told him. He didn't remove the trim from around the door to measure properly because when the installer showed up months later with the new door and after removing the trim around the door and rechecking, he told me that the door he brought was too short. I had told and showed the salesman that the door I was replacing had extra trim inside the opening and the salesman assurred me that the new door would eliminate this, but the door that was incorrectly measured would still require this extra trim because the saleman Never mentioned this to the representative who took the measurements. The installer apologized and remeasured the door correctly and I had to wait sever weeks for Champion to remake my door and take another day off from work and of course they don't offer any form of compensation to their customers for their own mistakes, just Sorry for the inconvenience. The door was Finally installed yesterday and thankfully I had the same installer who had remeasured the door correctly and he did a Great job. Today I received both a text and an email informing me that my door had been received by my local office and I would soon be contacted to schedule an installation appointment, remember this is After my door had already been installed. I called four different phone numbers to speak to someone and after holding for almost 30 min, I left my call back number. Then coincidently I received an email asking me how I liked my experience with Champion, and that I should leave a review. These doors are not cheap, mine was $15,000, but with the measuring mistakes and the costs of sending the installer here twice with his truck (85 miles away) I can now see why their prices are much higher than local home improvement stores including the cost of installation. My neighbors really like my new front door but agreed that a company this big should have better communication with their customers. The pictures are of the trim on my old door which the first door would still have required because either the salesman didn't mention this to the person measuring or he just didn't measure properly to eliminate the need for this excess trim, but either one is a fail."

"I had some complaints which I listed in my previous review. They refunded the $189 fee that I had disputed. But I must add this in their favor--last night DTE's power went out, and the whole-house battery kicked in flawlessly. Despite the bumps with the install and air conditioner repair person, when I needed the system to work, it worked flawlessly. Original Review: I am posting this review to warn people against contracting with Oak Electric of Waterford, MI. Monday 6/1 I turned on my central air for the first time and found that the condenser would not turn on, so I phoned Oak Electric. I called Oak Electric because in January I had hired them to install some solar panels on my roof. They botched the installation (this will likely be the subject of a second complaint next week; they still have not fixed the botched solar installation), and I suspected that they made a wiring mistake that broke my ac condenser. I was wrong in this specific suspicion, but correct to feel suspicious about Oak Electric's competence. Oak Electric sent a repair person. The repair person told me that the fault was a defective control panel. The repair person said that since the brand was Nordyne, it was not worth his time to find the part, but he wished me luck and charged me $189. After several hours of searching I found the part, and phoned a local air conditioning repair company to ask them to purchase the part and install it (I could not purchase the part myself because the seller, RH Townsend of Warren, MI, will only sell to licensed mechanical contractors). Thankfully, the other representative was competent. Instead of purchasing the part he instead came to my house to look at the condenser. First he tested the control panel and told me that it was working correctly. He then tested the unit for freon and found it was almost empty; the control panel was not allowing the device to turn on because the freon was low. In other words, the information I received from the Oak Electric technician was false. The control panel was not broken; to the contrary, it was working as designed. The representative stated flatly that any competent ac technician sent to diagnose a non-working condenser would check the freon level, and that failing to check the freon level and charging $189 for the visit was ridiculous. The Oak Electric technician was incompetent and in no way deserving of his $189 payment. I asked Oak Electric to refund my $189, and they have not replied. I would like Oak Electric to refund the $189 I paid for their useless, worthless, incompetent anti-service. I'm not holding my breath."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Assessing location for airflow, convenience, and minimal noise impact.

Your AC might not cool after a power outage because of a tripped circuit breaker, blown fuse, or damage to the compressor or capacitor. If you notice your AC not working after a power outage, in most cases, the breaker has tripped or the system has built-in brownout and blackout protection. Reboot the AC by turning it off at the thermostat, resetting the circuit breaker, and waiting 30 minutes to turn the AC on again.

Your heating and cooling systems cost you the most on your electric bill and make up 50% of your bill on average. Your washing machine, dryer, oven, and stove contribute significantly to your electric bill as well. Lights, fans, and smaller electronics add up, but aren’t the biggest energy consumers. You can reduce your power usage by setting optimal temperatures on your thermostat and investing in energy-efficient appliances.

No. HVAC, which stands for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, includes all of the systems that work together to regulate a building’s temperature and humidity levels. In comparison, air conditioners only provide cooling. You can have an air conditioner as part of your HVAC system, but not all HVAC systems include air conditioners.

You can air condition your Arizona room by extending your home’s existing HVAC system or adding a ductless mini-split system. Arizona rooms that have full windows rather than screens only are a better choice for air conditioning—screens will let the cold air out as fast as the air conditioner can make it.
