They immediately acknowledged what they had done, called their office, spoke to someone named Dave, who reportedly advised us they would take care of the damage and would be in touch soon to make arrangements for repairs. That was the last time we heard from these clowns. "Dave", whoever he is, never called back, and failed to return numerous phone calls. In other words, he ghosted us. Bottom line on these morons - hell will freeze over long before I'll ever use them again. "

The EPA claims ducts only need cleaning if the above signs become an issue in your household. But the NADCA states that you should clean your air ducts every three to five years to prevent any problems with your HVAC system.

Because air ducts can irritate those with asthma or respiratory issues, you’ll need to consider your health situation to decide if this is worth the expense. (Hint: It usually is.)

Kitchen exhaust fans are regularly exposed to grease. To remove grease from a range hood, make a paste from baking soda and water. Apply the paste to the greasy areas and let it sit for 30 minutes before wiping it off with a cloth or sponge. If that doesn’t work, use a degreaser soap or cleaning product.

You’ll want to spot-clean your air vents once every month. Spot-clean them by using a handheld vacuum, a brush attachment, or a microfiber cloth dipped in warm, soapy water. Make sure you trace over the corners and crevices, which trap dust. Once or twice a year, you should also deep clean. You can remove the vents and soak them in warm, soapy water for a half hour before cleaning, drying, and returning them.

You will know if your furnace needs cleaning if your furnace seems to be working less efficiently than normal. You may notice your bedroom is chilly, but the living room is extremely warm, or perhaps the furnace isn’t heating the house properly at all. The furnace may also make weird noises, like bangs or whistles, or emit a rubbery or smoky smell when it is dirty. Of course, these symptoms could also be signs of other issues, so call in an HVAC pro to take a look as soon as possible.

While your forced heating system runs, it can pick up dirt, dust, hair, and other particles from inside your house. Changing your furnace filters regularly is key to preventing this debris from getting stuck in your ducts and swirling around your home. With some types of furnaces, there’s also the potential for carbon monoxide leaks. However, staying up-to-date with your HVAC inspections and installing carbon monoxide sensors can help mitigate this risk.
