Basement Waterproofing, Crawl Space & Foundation Repair experts since 1991. Free estimates & inspections.

"I had a basement waterproofing project done by TC Hafford in March costing over 19K. It is now July and my basement is full of water, once again,on this rainy day. I have been back and forth with this company for months, and after sending someone in who finally admitted to faulty installation, I am still waiting for them to fix their mistakes. I absolutely would never recommend this company to anyone."

For more than 30 years, we have provided long-lasting and cost-effective foundation repair, wet basement repair, foundation concrete crack repair and basement waterproofing services in New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. If you are a homeowner, property manager, structural engineer, home inspector, or builder, you have probably experienced the problems caused by leaky basement and foundation walls. Leaking walls in your home or business, if left untreated, can lead to more serious and costly damage down the road. Water in the home can lead to mold, mildew, poor air quality, and further health issues. Structural damage may occur. And,even if water is not an issue, cracks can invite insects in to a home.

"Went well up front. Careful of there ten year guarantee. Had them come so we could finish our bathroom in our basement. We Finished our basement after they finished their work. Five years later the leak reappeared in the exact spot it was when we first contacted them. When we called to tell them about the leak, they told us we have to rip apart our 8K bathroom to prove them it was their work. The leak was in the same spot when they originally came out. Because of this I would not recommend them. The rip out and the replacement is on our dime. I think the guarantee is very Limited."

Hazelwood Handyman is a full service handyman, remodeling and property management company. We will do anything from changing a lightbulb to large additions and remodels.

"Hazelwood Handyman was amazing. They were on time, did a great job and came in at the estimated price. One thin guy moved a frig that weighs at least 800 pds- it took 4 movers to put it in place when installed. I was amazed! Highly recommended."

Black Bear Landscaping performs a wide range of projects. Included are outdoor hardscapes to total project designs that encompass patio, irrigation, lawn installation, flower bed designs, driveway and fencing. Black Bear Landscaping offers all landscaping services at competitive rates. Employees range from 3 to 10 and we occasionally use subcontractors when necessary. Larger contracts pricing allows for 1/3rd down, 1/3rd mid project and the final 1/3 at project completion.

"It went terribly. The owner promised his company was better than the others in the area because he uses 4-5 inches of topsoil, where his competitors use 2 inches. He talked up the seed that he uses, and that after installation in June of 2020, he would be back in the fall to weed and feed (which they did), and after all the trouble we had, said he would return in the spring of 2021 to fix it. That did not happen. What we got was 2 inches of topsoil, barely enough to cover some stumps we had ground, weeds, lots of weeds, more weeds than grass, then came the crabgrass which choked out any seed he put down. He did not come back this spring, so now our front yard is weeds, clover, some grass, crabgrass, and no grass growing where the three stumps were. And he tried to charge us for extra topsoil! I would never recommend Black Bear Landscaping."

Concrete Repair questions, answered by experts

No, foundation repair is not usually covered by home insurance. Most home insurance companies typically consider foundation repair as part of your home maintenance, so they won’t cover the cost. However, foundation damage is sometimes caused by covered events such as a burst pipe or a house fire. In these cases, repairs may be covered.

Yes, slab foundations can sink just like any other foundation type. Floating slabs are the most prone to differential settlement and foundation sinking because they sit directly on the surface of the earth. Slab foundations that have footings—including slab-on-grade foundations and monolithic slab foundations—get additional support from soil further down and are less likely to sink over time, especially under larger, heavier structures.

Cracked tiles can mean foundation problems. Fortunately, most of the time, cracked tiles happen as a result of accidental damage. It is important to determine the cause of cracking to rule out underlying foundation issues. If your tiles were not damaged due to dropped items, heavy loads, poor installation, or inferior tile quality, and the cracks are spreading throughout your flooring and not limited to just one area, you may be dealing with foundation problems. These can include drainage problems and even foundation failure, so it is vital to call a licensed contractor to assess the issue and ensure your foundation is safe.

The most cost-effective foundation repair is using masonry patches and sealants to seal foundation cracks and offer some support to prevent further damage. These methods are used to fix minor foundation cracks quickly. However, they’re not suitable as a long-term solution, and they only offer minimal stability. On average, masonry patches and sealants cost $500, but a sealant like an epoxy crack injection can total over $2,000. If you’re handy and only looking for a temporary solution until you contact a local foundation repair contractor for a more permanent one, you can save hundreds by DIYing this repair.

You have different options depending on the scale of repair needed. If you are repairing minor cracks that are between ¼ inch to 1.5 inch wide and less than half an inch deep, a self-leveling polyurethane sealant would be your best choice. Polyurethane sealants dry to the touch within one to two hours. Since they come in a tube applier, you also have the option to complete the repair without emptying out your garage.
