I had a basement waterproofing project done by TC Hafford in March costing over 19K. It is now July and my basement is full of water, once again,on this rainy day. I have been back and forth with this company for months, and after sending someone in who finally admitted to faulty installation, I am still waiting for them to fix their mistakes. I absolutely would never recommend this company to anyone.

To start, this was our situation: our basement has three "rooms", one of which is predominantly a crawl space area. In this section, there is a lot of ledge in the basement, and a LOT of water worked its way into our basement with every rainstorm. On top of this, the crawl space section was closest to the stairwell, so the mildewy smell kind of permeated throughout the house. TC Hafford was extremely easy to work with. Our initial estimate was fast, easy, and informative. They will actually send you detailed brochures and outlines of how they're going to waterproof your space. From there, it became obvious that the customer service and workers really cared about the quality of their work, and in making sure we were happy every step of the way. The service was fantastic, and we always felt "in the loop". The job took slightly longer than expected (it was not an easy job), but the end results were exactly what we had hoped for. What we ultimately had done was this: the team encapsulated our entire crawlspace with the CleanSpace and Waterguard system, then installed a single sump pump to replace the two we already had. To do this, they needed to install Waterguard drainage piping with crushed rock throughtout the basement (which was later cemented over again so it's unobtrusive). Then they covered the ledge and unfinished parts of the basement with CleanSpace with Waterguard underneath, which keeps the moisture separate from the rest of the basement and allows the piping to carry any water down to the sump pump. They then installed a drainage system that led away from the house (again, as unobtrusive and well-done as possible). Given our experience as a whole, we plan to call TC Hafford in the future with any needs, and would definitely recommend them.

The repairs cost $820. I was dismayed that the repair cost was this high for a piece of equipment that was only 3 years old, and had been maintained as per recommendations. "They typically last much longer" I was told by the company, but there was no reduction in the price for the repairs. I found that the company was frequently slow to respond to phone calls, and the estimated repair time of 3-4 weeks took almost 3 months.

Original repair continued to allow moisture in but the crew came back to do additional work and we've have had no problems since.

A good experience overall. Their customer service was phenomenal- they sent out literature and showed me a very informative video. Some minor details to the work were lacking, but overall a positive experience and I am glad I hired them.

I scheduled the appointment for an estimate and they actually called back and moved it up. Estimator was great, very professional quick and really seemed to know what he was talking about. By the time he left I had the estimate printed out in my hands. I scheduled to have the work done on the spot. When the crew came to do the work they were both wonderful. Professional, courteous and kept my place clean. When completed they explained exactly what they did and answered any questions I had. About two weeks later we had a pretty good rain and water leaked in from the repair. I called them up  and while they had so many more pressing customers to get to with much bigger water issues, they got right back to me and had someone out the next day. They improved on the work they originally did and said if this did not stop the water, just call back.

I have been holding off on writing my review until we had a really good rain. That day finally came. And the repair job held up so well. I could not be more pleased with these folks. They priced the job affordable, showed up when they said the would, came back when I had minor issues and just treated me and my wife really well. I absolutely would use them again and will sing their praises to anyone who asks.

They had to return for little things that we unfinished. The outside discharge pipes were never glued and not cut in right. The humidifier had issues as well. One call and they were right on it though. They back up their work. It was exspensive, but it's a great system!

In general, things went pretty well with TC Hafford. When we set appointments, they kept them, and the work was done pretty much as I expected. The principal issue was that the whole process took a great deal of time.
We were having mild mold problems in our home due to moisture in the crawlspace. I found TC Hafford on line and got an estimate from them. The initial meeting was in the spring, and there were several steps to the process. Prior to Hafford's work, we had had all the old fiberglass batting removed, the space cleaned out, and the mold treated. Hafford's first step was install the moisture barrier (durable plastic sheeting) on the cement block walls and stone and dirt floor. That all took place reasonably promptly.
Step two was the installation of the dehumidification equipment: a large dehumidifier and several small fans to move air from certain areas into the space where the dehumidifier is located. This was done over two or three sessions, but getting the last step attended to took several months, and wasn't completed until sometime in the fall. No particular harm was done by the delay, but it was a minor aggravation having to remind them of the need to do the work (which was usually prompted by them billing me and me telling them I wouldn't pay till the work was completed).
Step three was blowing in the foam insulation, and this was delayed because Hafford's was in the process of acquiring their own equipment. This delayed the process by over a month, and didn't take place till mid-summer. Again, there was no harm done by the delay, but it meant that I had to keep checking to find out the status of the project. The foam layer is not as thick as I had anticipated, but the house felt warmer this winter. Also, the overall air quality seems much better, although we have not paid to have the mold levels rechecked.
To their credit, Hafford found someone to remove an old oil tank at a very reasonable cost (this was an added step, since they were uncomfortable about covering up--which I appreciated), and they were open to dealing with my concerns about adequate air flow in the crawlspace. All the people I dealt with were very personable and courteous. I never had the sense that I was getting a run-around, it was just that things took longer than anyone expected.
On the question, "Would I use them again?" I answered yes, because it seems like a company that is trying to do a good job. Over the time of my extended interactions, they were never impatient at my unwillingness to pay prior to completion of the final step, and they never offered flimsy excuses for why things were taking so long. Just the truth. They have a monopoly in this area, as far as I can tell, so I think the price was high, but we had no mold problems this winter, and the spider population has dropped in the bargain so there are fewer cobwebs in the crawlspace, so the product seems to deliver. The plastic sheeting is tough, but not really suitable for a space that has more than occasional traffic. We have an oil burner in the crawlspace, and that has made the white plastic pretty grimy, but it is cleanable. The other advantage to the white plastic is that even with minimal lighting the crawlspace is now much brighter, and much less dungeon-like.
So I've given them a B, which in my view is Honors, but not High Honors.

The experience with them was excellent and we were very pleased. The person who did the initial review was very conscientious, gave a lot of options and discussed the situation with our basement. We were very impressed with the consultation. The actual installation of the dehumidifier was quick, fine and the person really knew what he was doing. He put the machine in at exactly where we wanted and it worked extremely well.

For the price, I don’t have a comparison with that kind of machine.

Arrived early, had 2 different people for 2 different houses. Seemed to know what they were talking about. Were looking at old block basements with cracks. Did not recommend that they needed any fixing, so obviously weren't trying to sell me any thing that I did not need. The second guy we used was a bit hard to get a hold of as his normal stomping grounds seem to be out of cell phone range. My dad had some follow up questions, as he thought the basement did actually need some work. Did get some price quotes. Left some sales/info books with me and my realtor which were good to go through.

It took a while to get the job quoted, I assume because they are so busy. Once it began, the project went pretty fast with some technical difficulties. Otherwise they were very competent and professional.

I am very happy with the systems that they put in but I have to keep on them to make sure the work is up to our standard. The laborers are probably just getting the job done instead of making sure it is complete to satisfaction. After they were gone we called them back and they sent out a team to comeback and fix the problem but I am happy how everything ended. They didn't have their initial attention to detail. They are really only one's around that do this type of work. I can't remember what the price was. They were on time and I had no problem with that.

Bryan did a great job installing the equipment. I now feel safe that the basement will not flood. The problem is the pumps run almost constantly as if my house is sitting on top of a lake. This I am sure is costing me a few bucks.I hope that this problem can be solved soon. We will be evaluating our options. I hope that TC Hafford can help me figure out what to do.I will be contacting them soon.

They were excellent. They knew what they were doing. We had some heavy duty rain after their work and there was no problem. There was no drop of water. I would highly recommend them for any water problem with respect to their basement. They are an excellent company and they stay behind their work. I didn't have any problems with them after their work. It helped us wonderfully well.

They are not really responsive. Their sales man is not the best. The quality of their work is fantastic. The sales person that worked for them tends to not get back to you. He is very difficult to get hold of. They are also honest.

It did not go well. After they were "finished" with their work, I continued to have leaks pop up sporadically in the middle of my floor. I called for the first few and it was like an act of congress getting them to come back to the house. I eventually just stopped calling and dealt with the leaks.

We talked with the salesman at the beginning of February. He was very knowledgeable about the system ,returned our phone calls and answered our questions.
The two people doing the installation arrived on time, finished fairly quickly. Everything was neat when they left. We had anticipated there being quite a bit of dust, but there was none to speak of.
We have not had much rain since the installation so have had no need for the pumps to operate. Because the ground has been frozen the discharge pipes are still above ground. They are due to be buried later in the spring.
All in all we're very satisfied .
