Hazelwood Handyman was amazing. They were on time, did a great job and came in at the estimated price. One thin guy moved a frig that weighs at least 800 pds- it took 4 movers to put it in place when installed. I was amazed! Highly recommended.

We began planning the project in the summer and again, Chris Moon was our project manager. The project began in the fall, after we left for the season. It was a much more difficult and complicated project than we expected because of the nature of the sewer lines necessitating water to be pumped upward. Permits were complicated and took more time than usual but Chris persisted and everything was eventually approved. The project included a double shower, toilet, sink and linen closet. It is very spacious and laid out beautifully. The project was completely done by Hazelwood and sub-contractors coordinates by them. Electrical, plumbing, painting and al finishing. Washer and dryer were also re-located and rough in’s were done for a future laundry sink. All work has been completed. The winter presented many challenges during this construction that were all handled and resolved. Everything was left in order. In the next few months, we plan to complete finishing the rest of the basement. Plans have already been discussed and I look forward to working with Chris again. His work ethic is exceptional and he is simply a caring person who gets the job done with the highest level of professionalism. Certainly Hazelwood is lucky to have him. Thanks again, Hazelwood!

Hazelwood was very responsive and professional. The estimate was extremely detailed and we were updated weekly as to the progress with the project. Hours, materials and every aspect of the job was detailed on the estimate. I was able to discuss the work or progress via phone, email or even text message as the job was ongoing. Chris Moon was our site manager and I was able to reach him any time I needed a question answered.
I really liked that the estimate was written in what I called "a worse case scenario" manner. Both jobs came out under what was estimated by over a thousand dollars total. That is because the hours, materials and all other aspects of the jobs were so closely monitored and we were only charged for exactly the hours needed and materials used.
The job site was left clean, no damage was left behind as a result of the work. Any paint damage that was caused by construction was touched up. The bathroom is in the same condition as it was when the job started, minus the old vanity and damaged sub flooring and joist.
All of the plumbing involved was part of the estimate and coordinated by Hazelwood.
I did reach out to the owner, Tim Spang once by email over a weekend and was instantly answered and my question addressed.
I was pleased with this company even more so since this was a totally unexpected event and expense for us. I appreciated the respect for our budget and the care that was taken to charge us only for what time, labor and material was needed.
We received a thank you note after the job was completed which was a very nice gesture.
This is a vacation home and we live 300 miles away. What a comfort it was to realize that out property was in such good hands as we could not be there to see what was being done. Chris sent me pictures as the bathroom progressed and I was able to see every aspect of the work. He even called me when there was a problem with our heater in the house and informed me so that I could send a repairman to take care of it. He offered to facilitate that and help any way he could. Again greatly appreciated since i was in New Jersey.
I highly recommend this company.

Some items included in the invoice were $615 for demolition (?) and cleanup, $1,155 for painting the frames (I did it myself once in less than 2hrs). A water hose was used for clean up (?) which resulted in gray paint chips flying up from porch deck being prepared for painting (not incl. in job) and sticking to surrounding white woodwork which was difficult and time consuming for me to remove. They also spilled a small amount of white paint on my new asphalt driveway. Finally, it took several calls over several weeks to get credit on the final invoice for a deposit I made before the work began.
Response from HAZELWOOD HANDYMAN
"Hazelwood repaired (4) large 8’x8’ screen window inserts with clipped / angled tops and (2) sets of X bracing – Primed and applied (1) coat of finish paint on approx. 225-250 linear feet of 1x4. Once the new screening was installed Hazelwood installed approx. 250 linear feet of 3/8” screen stock molding - Primed and applied (1) finish coat of paint - Each screen insert had (12) miter / angle cuts. At the end of the project the new wooded screen door was hitting the decking, so the techs power planed the bottom so that it would operate correctly. That specific day was wet and rainy so the wood chips were not easily swept up. So a garden hose was used to clean off the deck, then the yard below was raked with a fine metal rake. The homeowner accepted the original estimate which detailed the work above. The final invoice was just about the same amount give or take a few dollars. We never heard any feedback regarding the paint chips, but we would have been more than happy to return and take care of any chips that flown up and adhered themselves where they should not be. As far as the deposit not being returned - for that we apologize. Our longtime office manager left suddenly. A new office manager/book keeper started during the week of the final invoicing – so it t took a week or so to figure out the Quick Books system regarding previous deposits made for pending/current jobs. Once the system was understood, we rectified the problem immediately."

Very pleasant on the phone and professional when they came for the estimate. We had to wait several weeks for them to come do the estimate, then several more weeks for the work to be completed. On the morning of the job, the gentleman followed a suggestion my husband made and borrowed a chain from us to remove the hoop/pole. The area was very tidy and the hole well filled when he left. Great radio ad, but more timely estimate and a work plan might have made the job smoother. The office was in frequent contact with reminders via email.

"Thank you for your honest and straightforward review. We strive to deliver quality service and craftsmanship. We are fortunate to be a sought after handyman company. This being the case, we are busy and there are times when we schedule our site visits out a few weeks. And then it may be a few more weeks after that until we can have technicians on-site to complete the job. At the time of the first call, we always ask the customer if this is acceptable to them and make it a point to ask them what their time frame is for when they would like to have their work completed. If we don't feel that we can accommodate their timeframe, we always make this clear, so that the customer can make the decision about whether they would like to proceed with our services or not. We appreciate this review because we continue to strive to improve our customer service. We feel that being honest about our ability to complete the specified work in the time frame requested is really important because it speaks to the working relationship between our company and the client. Once a price and timeframe are agreed upon, we work our hardest to deliver that product - on time and on budget."

He had come to give me an estimate for doing my bathroom downstairs. I did not use him because I had hired a contractor to put an addition in my house, to do the roof and my two bathrooms. It was $7000 to do one bathroom which included putting sheet rock in, painting and putting a floor. It did not include the fixtures like the shower, vanity or the counter top as they were extra. They were very pleasant. I know Tim Spain and he is the president of that company and he is a contractor and a roofer. About 15 years ago he did the roof for me and I was very pleased with it. They ripped up all the shingles and put a new one. He put circles in my sockets to vent my house and put vent thing on top of the roof. The only reason I didn't use him for handy man is the contractor that I hired here was more reasonable to do the bathrooms. Tim Spain does good work. He used to do roofing and siding at that time and now he builds houses, the whole package. At that time he charged $3700 to do the roof. He is very reliable and does what he says. He told me what he was going to do and he did it. He cleaned up very well after himself. He picked up shingles and ripped off the roof. He had a nice crew working for him and they were pleasant to work with. He himself is personable and at that time he worked with the crew. He picked up brown color to match the shutters and it was stunning. I would recommend him. At that time the price was reasonable. He is a nice guy and very pleasant. I was very happy.

Overall these multiple projects went very well. Most of the work was completed during a trip my husband and I took out of the country. Our adult son was living in the home and was able to be there to let the carpenters in to the home, to complete the work. We were extremely pleased with the level of professionalism the workers showed. They took pride in doing things correctly and were amazingly neat. There were several small glitches throughout the project. The initial french door arrived warped, through no fault of theirs, and had to be re-ordered. This delayed completion of the project. Additional trim had to be orderd to complete the installation of the door, due to the pre-existing transom window. The biggest problem with the project occured with the new kitchen floor. Upon installation, several nail holes and areas where the floor seams did not align were found that had to be fixed. Approximately 4 months after installation an extremely large chip (3 inches x 1 inch) and many small ones were obeserved in the floor. The company was notified and promptly came to look at the flooring. They absolutely concurred this should not have happened in a floor with a 25 year warranty and promptly and professionally replaced the defective boards. Over the ensuing 6 months more divets and chips were noted on the floor and the company was again notified. It was our belief that the flooring was defective and needed complete replacing. The company representatives agreed and contacted the manufacturer to send a representative. It took a month or so for the representtive to come and inspect the floor. He was reluctant to call the floring defective but could not explain the reasons for the chips and divots. Our company told him they had to replace the floor as it was unsatisfactory. Regretably, the process of getting new flooring from the company dragged on over another 10 months, until we finally "strongly" requested the company replace our floor and deal with the manufacturer on their own. They actually agreed to this and replaced the floor. Our new floor is beautiful, in fact we like it better than the original floor they put down (slightly darker, satin finish). We were somewhat disappointed that the process dragged on for as long as it did, but to their credit, this company stood by their work and the products they used and eventually completed the job in a satisfactory manner. I would call on them again for a major repair or remodel, especially for a "high finish level" home

I found them under my own resources. They were very good, and they did it in an hour. I would highly recommend them. They do a lot of handymen stuff. They were there on time. They did a perfectly fine job. It was a pretty specific project. I was very desperate. I was not able to find anyone around here locally. They did a fine job. I am happy with them.
