We have been serving customers in Maine for about 15 years. Previously, we were under the name Quietside Electric when we were located in Southwest Harbor and before that as Mountainside Electric when we were based out of Carrabassett Valley. We are a small operation and that gives us the ability to take on the small tasks that most of the larger size contractors do not want to take on. We will be closing for March and April to take our snowbird break during the spring mud season but we have availability for the rest of 2025 and the start of 2026.

"Yes, Ross was very efficient, answered the call immediately as my refrigerator was on the blow out. He came in from Bar Harbor. His price was fair!!!"

My regular electrician was too busy but this was a fire hazard which demanded immediate attention. Wouldn't book with Baker's company again just because of outrageous price."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

You can twist the wires before using a wire nut, but it’s not necessary. Electricians often twist wires before using a wire nut, which can help secure the connection and enhance electrical contact between wires. You can decide whether or not to twist the wires beforehand, or consult a local electrician if you need  professional opinion.

Many homes have a 200-amp service, which requires a 2-inch electrical meter riser. Larger homes or homes that require more energy for several appliances and devices may have a 400-amp service. For 400-amp service, opt for a 4-inch electrical meter riser.

Schedule regular inspections, clean fixtures, and replace worn-out components promptly.

Yes. Home electrical issues can be deadly serious, even leading to house fires. This is why you should always take any electrical issue seriously.

There are many types of electrical outlets, and diagnosing their issues can be tricky. If your electrical outlet is not working and a burning smell, discoloration, or outlet spark appear, you need to talk to an electrician as soon as possible.

When installing an outdoor outlet, it's important to proceed with caution. Unless you have the necessary training and licensure, it's not recommended to attempt this DIY. First, choose a suitable location. Make sure that the area can accommodate the outlet without overloading the circuit. You'll also need to ensure that your project complies with building codes. Next, turn off the power to the circuit, then install and wire the outlet according to the manufacturer's instructions. Once the outlet is in place, test it. Lastly, be sure to use a cover that will protect it from moisture and other weather-related damage.
