Small jobs welcome

"We needed help with a redesign of an older powder room with laundry. We were switching to stackables and installing a shower beside them. High Quality Electric came up with a plan and a design, and did a great job helping us with our vision. We are very happy with the finished product, And the whole process. We highly recommend High Quality Elecyric and will definitely be hiring them again for future projects which we already have in mind. ð"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Old Town, you’ll find residential electricians for home wiring, panel upgrades, and smart home installations, as well as service specialists for repairs. The area’s industrial background means there are also contractors focused on commercial and industrial systems, including motor and equipment specialists. Additionally, Old Town has professionals for generator installation, solar panel setup, emergency repairs, and thorough electrical inspections to keep homes and businesses safe.

Helpful?

For new homeowners in Old Town, start with a full electrical inspection, GFCI outlet upgrades in kitchens, baths, and basements, and updated smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Consider surge protection and generator hookup for Maine’s frequent storms. Upgrading old panels, adding outlets, and installing energy-efficient lighting or smart thermostats will help modernize your home and prepare it for local weather challenges.

Helpful?

After finishing electrical projects in Old Town, schedule any required inspections and keep copies of permits and certificates. Test all new outlets, breakers, and safety features, and update your insurance records. With Maine’s climate, check outdoor connections before winter and inspect for weather damage in spring. Don’t forget to update smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and keep detailed records for future reference.

Helpful?

In Old Town, unexpected costs can arise from upgrading old wiring to meet current Maine codes, especially in historic homes with knob-and-tube systems. Weatherproofing for harsh winters, underground cable installation in rocky soil, and addressing asbestos in pre-1980 homes can add expenses. Permit fees, multiple inspections, and emergency repairs during severe weather also contribute to higher costs for electrical upgrades.

Helpful?

In Old Town, using outdoor extension cords not rated for cold, overloading circuits with space heaters, and letting snow or ice build up on exterior equipment can all reduce the lifespan of your electrical system. Ignoring flickering lights, daisy-chaining power strips, and neglecting regular GFCI testing or panel cleaning also contribute to early wear, especially in Maine’s challenging climate.
