Small jobs welcome

With over a decade of electrical experience, I provide reliable, detail-oriented service as a solo electrician. My expertise is in residential work, including service calls, remodels and new construction, with additional experience in light commercial projects. As a smaller company, i focus on quality over quantity, taking on projects that allow me to deliver personal attention and dependable results. I'm committed to clear communication, clean workmanship, and building long-term trust with every customer.

"The only problem I had with NextGen was that the city came to me after the installation and said there was no electrical permit pulled for the job and that the local electric company should have opened our electrical service, not NextGen."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, you must use an extension cord specifically rated for outdoor use to power outdoor lights, such as Christmas lights. Extension cords intended for indoor use lack the protective properties to withstand exposure to outdoor elements. To safely hang and power lights outside your house or in your yard, always connect them to an outdoor power source using an outdoor-rated extension cord.

The size of the microwave you choose may change this answer, but for standard over-the-range microwaves, 120 volts and a three-prong grounded outlet is needed for your device.

The doorbell installation cost depends on which and how many parts you need to replace. A new transformer is the least expensive replacement and falls between $20 and $35, plus the cost of hiring an electrician to install it, which can be between $150 and $250. Replacing your entire doorbell system can cost $250 to $400.

If you plan to have a refrigerator or other appliances that require electricity, you will need an electrical outlet in your outdoor kitchen. Be sure to comply with all National Electrical Code® (NEC®) codes for electrical wiring and outlets in kitchens. If you do not plan to install a refrigerator or any other appliances that require electricity as part of your outdoor kitchen features, then you do not need to install electrical outlets. However, it is a good idea to install at least one electrical outlet should you decide to use any appliances that require electricity.

Home power is measured in kilowatt-hours, commonly expressed as kWh. The average home uses between 800 and 1,000 kWh per month. Peak usage (and highest bills) occurs in the middle of summer and the depths of winter. Keeping on top of your usage during these crucial months will lower your annual average usage considerably.
