"Very well! Ronal tiled the the bathtub/shower walls and the bathroom floor, as well as the backsplash in the kitchen. He is very professional, conscientious, meticulous, and worked with us to achieve our desired outcome. We were very pleased with the results."

"The old, dangling, copper hose pipe cracked this winter. Luckily, it was only the extension, on the exterior of my house. Nick, from John E. Ruth Co. came out to replace the copper pipe, extension, and faucet, along with insulation. He did a super job, securely attaching the entire run to the formstone.

"This group is impeccable, perfect work re-doing a botched first job from a horrible, licensed contractor. Many uncharged extra fixes and advice. The unique tile design of the bathroom shower surpassed my own vision. Spectacular!"

"We could not have asked for a better experience that ended with a beautiful bathroom. Joe and all of the contractors that came in and out of the house were easy to communicate with, friendly and did a phenomenal job. My wife is all ready talking about the next project :). (Will post a picture when I figure out how)"

"David, Jamie, and the crew did an outstanding job remodeling both upstairs bathrooms. Both projects were completed on schedule, on budget and the workmanship was excellent. They kept the house and work area clean and communicated with us during every phase. Will definitely hire them again!"

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

The overflow drain and wastewater drain connect to the same main pipe to take water away from your bathtub. Your overflow drain is meant to prevent damage to your bathroom—especially the floor around your bathtub, where excess water can quickly create a mold or mildew problem.

The diverter valve in your bathtub is responsible for diverting water between your tub spout and your shower head. If water comes out of both at the same time, you have a faulty diverter valve. You can have a plumber replace this for you, or you can replace it yourself if you have some experience working with plumbing fixtures.

The water supply lines run underneath the bathtub. These two pipes deliver cold and hot water to the bathtub—the cold water comes from the main water supply, and the hot water comes from the water heater. The pipes are made from copper, cream-colored plastic CPVC, or red and blue PEX tubing.

Alcove tubs come in fiberglass, acrylic, or enameled steel. Fiberglass is the most affordable but least durable, while acrylic is the highest-end and most durable (as long as you don’t go with a poor grade of acrylic, which will be prone to scratches). Enameled steel, where a steel tub is coated in a layer of porcelain, is a wallet-friendly middle ground. This material is highly durable but prone to chips.

The order of your bathroom renovation should prevent damage to the completed work. Start with demolition and removing the old fixtures. Then, address structural repairs or water damage, if needed. Next, tackle the rough-in phase for plumbing and electrical work, install waterproofing, and work on wall treatments like tile or paint. Install your shower or bathtub, toilet, vanity, and sink. Flooring goes in after major fixtures but before the toilet. Lastly, install new lighting fixtures, mirrors, and other finishing touches as desired.
