"Very responsive! From the get-go, the main office connected me with their skylight expert, HB, who provided great information and responded quickly to my numerous questions. The work was scheduled quickly. Salome showed up early for the scheduled appointment, which was fantastic since I had to leave for work. Everyone at the company was extremely professional and the work looks great. Very competitive price."

Customers say: Quick response

"Honest compnay with great customer services, I needed to replace the old leaky roof and cracked skylight, first time using their services and I am very impressed by their efficiency and attention to details. Tom is a great project manager who keeps me updated on the progress, he is on site every day to track progress, very patient and repsonsive to my questions even after hours, the crew is very hard working and walk extra mile to get the job done, they even framed my one rotten wood window without charging me. I am very grateful for their work ethics and customer oriented attitude. Heavy rainfall on the same night after they finished the roof replacement, foreman Erwin even went back to my house at 10PM at night to ensure no leaks / damage done to the newly installed skylight. we also checked the new roof next morning and rest assured no leaks to my ceiling - Thank you very much for the great work!"

Skylights questions, answered by experts

In most cases, installing skylights will add value to your home, making them a worthwhile investment for many homeowners. Buyers are often attracted to the aesthetic appeal of skylights, as they make rooms feel brighter, airier, and more spacious by introducing natural light without compromising privacy. Beyond aesthetics, skylights can offer monetary benefits by potentially reducing energy bills. Additionally, models that can be opened provide extra ventilation, which is particularly useful in hotter climates for allowing accumulated hot air to escape from the ceiling. However, the return on investment depends on several factors. To maximize value, it's crucial that the skylights are installed by an experienced professional to avoid risks like water damage, which can deter savvy buyers. Regular maintenance and cleaning are also important. Furthermore, choosing the right frame and glazing materials for your specific climate will enhance their performance and appeal. While skylights are generally seen as an asset, homeowners should also consider the initial cost, which averages around $1,500 for installation.

When planning out skylights and deciding how big they should be, it's important to look at the dimensions of the interior space. In addition to changing a room aesthetically, skylights influence the illumination and temperature of the space below. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends that a skylight’s size should never be more than 5% of the floor area in rooms with many windows.

Yes, you can cover up a skylight if you no longer wish to have it in your space. There are a few options for covering up a skylight. One option is to install a skylight cover or shade that can be easily opened or closed as needed, allowing you to control the amount of light entering the room. Another option is to cover the skylight with a solid material, such as plywood or drywall, effectively sealing it off. However, when covering a skylight, it's essential to ensure proper insulation and waterproofing to prevent any issues in the future.

Water will leak through a skylight if there are issues in the sealing of the skylight. Find and fix those issues yourself if possible, but it’s a good idea to contact a professional, as there could be much more water damage than you initially saw. Plus, it’s dangerous to work on a roof without the proper safety equipment and know-how.

Ceiling costs depend on many factors, such as the material used and size, but coffered ceilings are considered one of the more expensive ceiling options. If you want to install a coffered ceiling but have a limited budget, consider using plywood instead of hardwood—it costs $2–$4.50 per square foot, while hardwood can be as much as $20 per square foot.
