John Moir was extremely fast to respond when initial inquiry was submitted, he called and scheduled an appointment within 30 minutes. He was timely in his appointment and quickly evaluated the need for replacement skylights. The repair was scheduled for less than 5 days ahead which was impressive considering a holiday weekend in between. The crew arrived on time as scheduled and skylight replacement was completed in about 2 hours with high quality workmanship. We would highly recommend and would use his company again.

John and his crew were great. They replaced two very old skylights (25 plus years) in a timely manner. They did some additional caulking around the chimney that wasn't part of the original plan and did it for free. His crew was friendly, and John has some exceptional people skills. Projects: Replace asphalt shingle roof and install skylights In just two days after contacting American Home Care (AHC) to replace my roof and install skylights in my family room, John Moir, AHC's owner, visited me to discuss these projects. We spent a good couple of hours going over every detail. John respected my knowledge that I gleaned from research and family relatives who work in the trades, He supported my good ideas and recommended better/sounder alternatives/options to my less than good ideas. Within the week that followed, I accepted a detailed, nicely priced estimate, materials were delivered, and the projects were done. Pretty amazing that from initial contact with AHC to project completion took only a little over a week considering that these days some contractors don't even return your calls and it can take weeks to get on their schedules. In fact, it would've taken less than a week to complete the projects except that we had a day and half of wet and windy conditions that precluded doing the work. When we ascended into my attic to inspect the underside of the roof sheathing, John noticed an immediate problem. Because my two upstairs bath fans were never vented to the outside properly, forty years of moisture accumulating in the attic had caused the sheathing to greatly deteriorate. You could also see from the outside that some of sheathing had developed depressions. Although having to replace the sheathing was unexpected, I'm glad that John found these problems and I was happy to pay for the replacement as it would've been a shame to have shingles, which have a lifetime guarantee, installed over deteriorated sheathing. I now have shingles and sheathing that will outlive me, and the lifetime shingles will be a noteworthy plus if I ever sell my home. As for the bath fans, John lined me up with Blue Heron Construction Services (BHCS), a contractor with whom John partners on some projects. Within a week after I contacted Erik Brinsley, BHCS owner, the fans were properly vented and the interior work on the skylights (framing, drywalling, painting the shafts from the roof line down to the family room ceiling) was completed. Quality of materials, workmanship, and friendliness of AHC's crew were outstanding. I have a lot of flowers and plants in the front of my house and not a single one was damaged in removing my old shingles and sheathing. Clean up was great, but John came back a couple of days later to police the yard again even though there was practically no debris left to be found. I now have a beautiful new roof - CertainTeed (CT) Landmark Pro Max Def Architectural Shingles - with all the trimmings - CT DiamondDeck underlayment on the whole roof, CT WinterGuard underlayment at the gutters and around the skylights, new drip edge whose color matches my rake board color, new ridge vents, new flashing, and new plumbing vent collars. And a beautiful pair of Velux FCM2246 skylights that have really brightened my north-facing family room.

John Moir, the owner, was extremely helpful and easy to deal with. He was quick to respond, had the products we needed and got the installation done quickly. We had reached out to 3 other companies, 2 did not respond at all and we were told by the third many days after that they couldnâ t schedule and estimate for several weeks and it would probably take a while to even get the products needed.

Contractor examined the interior of attic for evidence of leaks, found the area. Outside, he applied sealant to all vents, including the entire ridge vent, far beyond where the leaks were. Went above and beyond. Left detailed instructions for examining for future leaks, plus what to order if a new roof is purchased. Very friendly with our pets. Discussed all findings and instructions in detail. A real pro.

Customers need to realize that technology has changed the way we do business. The person you talk to more likely by email is assigning crews and working up estimates, communicating with customers but they are unlikely to be on site. The crew was great, they took photos of their work, they did a great job, nobody spoke English but it did not matter. Meanwhile the contact is someplace in cyber land via Internet and email. It's just different way of doing business than I was expecting -still great job.

Three words to describe the work: thorough, timely and professional. The roof replacement is a huge investment, so contractor selection has to be done from a best value standpoint. American Home Care proposed a competitive price, detailed scope of work, high quality brand shingles and a list of 5 recent references, all of whom gave the company positive feedback. The business owner, John Moir, was very personable and professional. His crew arrived timely at 7am on project day, and completed the job and cleaned up that same day. John followed up a few days later and did a walk through inspection of the completed work. Working with American was an outstanding experience.

With this company the actual owner came to give me the estimate, unlike a couple of the others who sent a sales rep. He climbed on the roof and gave me a firm estimate. His work crew arrived on the appointed date about 8:30 and didn't leave until nearly dusk. They had to return the following day because my roof had multiple layers to be torn off. They finished about midday the second day and did everything they had promised to do. Although this company was not the lowest, it was the one I felt would do the best job for me. The owner returned the following day and made sure everything was picked up in the cleanup process. I couldn't have been more pleased with the entire process.
