"Can't say enough great things about D&D Water. We emailed them on a Monday night around 9PM and they got back to us first thing Tuesday and were at the house to help by 0900 that morning. Donnie and son were SUPEr responsive, friendly and timely in helping us to diagnose the water issue with our well water. He was not trying to sell me anything, just trying to fix what was wrong. I did eventually have him replace the very old water tank with a new one, and the cost was super reasonable. It was way more than i was expecting. I would recommend DD&D to anyone that has a need for a water expert that values customer service! Thanks Donnie, you have a longtime customre now!!"

"Jesse and his crew came through with the best price, not to mention courteous, professional service and quality work. Our water main line was leaking and was getting worse. We could see water collecting on the driveway, water meter was spinning, and our water bill was going up by the hour. I asked if he could come sooner than our scheduled appointment which was 3 days away. He cleared his schedule and showed up the next day on a Saturday. They are the best at what they do. So nice to have someone who actually cares and not trying to sell you a whole new water main system from $8,500 - $15,000. His service was a fraction of that... thank goodness! This kind of service does not exist anymore. You will not be disappointed! Keep up the great work Jesse and thanks for everything!"

"
After receiving a proposal for remediation of two damp crawl spaces at a cost of nearly $10,000 I sought a second opinion from a highly-rated wterproofing contractor, Waterproofing, Inc., that I found on Angie's List.  Its owner, Mr. Stephen Norfolk, came out to my house, entered and spent a considerable aomount of time in the crawl spaces, and concluded that my prolem in one of them was minimal and didn't need expensive remediation, and the source of visible water in the second crawl space was likely due to a leaking dishwasher located directly above.  In short, displaying honesty and integrity, he talked me out of contracting with his company for any water remediation work because it wasn't necessary.   This was quite a contrast to the guy from a competing company that tried to sell me an expensive process that wouldn't have solved the main problem because it is a plumber that is needed rather than a waterproofer.
I can't evaluate the work that Waterproofing Inc. performs butI can attest to their honesty and integrity.  A+."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

A water softener removes minerals from your drinking water and can make your house water softer. These softeners are designed to extend the lifetime of your plumbing system while also making water safer and more palatable for drinking. Hard water, which is water with a heavy amount of suspended particles, can also cause hair damage, skin irritation, and buildup in your pipes.

Whether you need a permit or license for a water softener installation depends on your location, as requirements vary significantly. Some municipalities require the installer to hold a plumbing license, some mandate a permit and an inspection, and others require both. In some areas, no special permit or license is needed at all.

To determine the rules in your area, you can contact your local building department or consult a local water softener installer or plumber. Often, only certified professionals are authorized to pull the necessary permits, and they will typically handle the entire permitting process for you. Regardless of local laws, it is always recommended to hire a licensed professional to ensure the system is sized and installed correctly. You can use Angi’s state licensing tool to check an installer’s license status.

Experts recommend that you put two to four bags of potassium chloride in your water softener every month. This amount depends on how much is in the bag (40 pounds is most common) and what your water softener manufacturer recommends. For more specific advice, talk to a water softener pro in your area and read the manual that came with your system.

Softened water prevents scale deposits, reducing appliance wear, leading to energy savings and longer-lasting household fixtures.

The chemicals in a water softener can wear down the anode rod in the heater and shorten its life span. However, for most people, the benefits of the softener outweigh this potential drawback.

Have a plumber inspect the anode rod annually for damage, as replacing the anode rod is far less expensive than replacing the entire water heater.
