"After our AC system failed, I interviewed and received estimates from four different Heating and Air companies. One rep wouldn't even go into our crawlspace to look at the failed unit, but gave us an estimate anyway. Another took a look but added many extras to his estimate. Yet another looked and was helpful, but he was not the one who would actually do the work. Scott Holotick from Reliably Accurate was the last to come out and review our situation and I knew I needed to look no further. Scott was extremely knowledgeable, courteous and professional. He gave me a clear understanding of what the problems were and a clear game plan for installing a new system. His estimate was comparable to the others, but he included things in it (like a new return duct and register) that the others didn't. Not only that, he examined our second system and was the only estimator that accurately diagnosed the situation. He sent a contract right away, was immediately responsive to questions, and confirmed our agreement each step of the way. He installed our new system himself, told me exactly what he was going to do and when, and even upgraded the system at no cost just before the install to take advantage of a new promotion. Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

If your existing gas line requires a simple fix or a small replacement and it's easy to access, you can expect it to take one or two hours. A more complex project like fixing an underground gas line can take several days to complete. Consult a gas plumber near you with the specifics of your project to receive an accurate estimate of the price and time commitment.

Shut-off valves, like any other piece of metal hardware, can corrode, age, get worn down, and eventually break or rust into place. Occasionally spray your shut-off valve with WD-40 to stall it from rusting. If it really gets stuck, a wrench and WD-40 will usually do the trick, but you will need to call a plumber if it’s completely unmovable.

In some cases, the answer is yes. Being licensed to work on gas lines requires additional specialized training beyond being a licensed plumber. If the plumber is also licensed as a natural gas plumber, they will be able work on natural gas lines. If the plumber is only licensed to work on water and sewer lines, then you’ll have to find another professional to do gas line work.

The best sealant for gas pipes is usually a pipe joint compound, or pipe dope. It creates a durable, leak-proof seal that is resistant to high pressure and vibrations, and it doesn’t break down like tape can. Yellow Teflon tape, or PTFE tape, can also be a good option and is a safe and reliable sealant for gas pipes when you or a pro apply it correctly.

Most gas companies and utilities brokers will send a technician to relight a pilot light, but this may demand a service call fee. Contact your local gas company to inquire about available pilot light services. If it’s a no-go, just follow the aforementioned steps and light the manual boiler’s pilot light yourself.
