"After our AC system failed, I interviewed and received estimates from four different Heating and Air companies. One rep wouldn't even go into our crawlspace to look at the failed unit, but gave us an estimate anyway. Another took a look but added many extras to his estimate. Yet another looked and was helpful, but he was not the one who would actually do the work. Scott Holotick from Reliably Accurate was the last to come out and review our situation and I knew I needed to look no further. Scott was extremely knowledgeable, courteous and professional. He gave me a clear understanding of what the problems were and a clear game plan for installing a new system. His estimate was comparable to the others, but he included things in it (like a new return duct and register) that the others didn't. Not only that, he examined our second system and was the only estimator that accurately diagnosed the situation. He sent a contract right away, was immediately responsive to questions, and confirmed our agreement each step of the way. He installed our new system himself, told me exactly what he was going to do and when, and even upgraded the system at no cost just before the install to take advantage of a new promotion. Not only that, he lugged out many buckets of trash that a plumber had left during previous work. At the end of the install, he showed me pictures of the work he had done and explained exactly how the system would perform. Working with Scott and Reliably Accurate means smart diagnostics, professional demeanor, excellent quality work, competitive pricing, and no surprises. Their name says it all. Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

The best sealant for gas pipes is usually a pipe joint compound, or pipe dope. It creates a durable, leak-proof seal that is resistant to high pressure and vibrations, and it doesn’t break down like tape can. Yellow Teflon tape, or PTFE tape, can also be a good option and is a safe and reliable sealant for gas pipes when you or a pro apply it correctly.

Installing a gas line is no simple task. From start to finish, you’re looking at anywhere from six to 12 weeks to acquire the correct permits, dig a trench, and connect your appliances. Naturally, the longer the gas line, the longer it will take to complete. If your plumber needs to hire additional contractors to dig trenches and navigate around or remove obstacles, this could put you at the longer end of the timeframe. 

Once the land is prepped and licenses acquired, installing the actual line may only take a few days to a few weeks, weather permitting.

All U.S. states require permits for gas grill installation, so you’ll have to get one before you move forward with your project. Permits help ensure that the gas line runs safely to avoid gas leaks and explosions. Gas line permits can usually also only be pulled by certified plumbers, which means you’ll have to hire a professional from the start. The permit for a gas line installation for a gas grill usually costs between $100 and $300. You can contact your installation company or building department for more accurate pricing.

Having the right size pipe ensures proper drainage and helps protect against clogs and other plumbing problems. A pipe that's too small will take longer to drain, which can result in backups. And solids can build up in pipes that are too large. Choosing a pipe with the appropriate volume also means it will be able to handle water pressure, which is the force behind the water.

Venting a gas water heater out of the roof is preferable in most cases. Heated exhaust gases naturally rise, so a vertical vent pipe is efficient. If you’re trying to vent through a pipe exiting a wall, the angle of the pipe may be more horizontal than vertical, making the venting system less effective. If you go through a wall, you may need to add a fan to ensure a successful expulsion of the gases outdoors.
