"Ultimate Remodel created a custom design for my new kitchen which included moving utilities and removing and installing walls. They did an amazing job and vastly improved the beauty and functionality of the kitchen. The cabinets, counter tops, and all their materials are top quality. I was impressed with the quality of the workmanship. They were also able to get the work done quickly. I will definitely work with Ultimate Remodel again."

"We hired General Remodeling Group to renovate our DC home and add master bedroom and mudroom additions. They handled everything from the design and permitting (via their architect), to building the foundation, framing, additions, remodeling a bathroom, widening hallways, installing flooring, drywall, HVAC, electricity, plumbing, installing pavers outside and pouring concrete driveway, installing a wheelchair lift, and more. They handled unexpected setbacks well, communicated effectively during the project, and finished the project on-time and on-budget. I would definitely hire them again, and recommend them to anyone doing a home renovation or addition."

"The owner, Steve Everett, was very professional from beginning to end. He helped us figure out the best design for our needs and kept us informed every step of the way as to what would be completed next and when. He listened to our requests and made sure we were happy with everything. The quality of work was excellent. Our kitchen turned out even better than we imagined!"

"I met with Javier to discuss my kitchen and bathroom remodel. Although DMV did not do the remodel, Javier presented the best design. It was creative and the kitchen layout was great. The cost was reasonable, but above my small budget. Their professionalism does not go unnoticed. Hope to work with DMV Kitchen and Bath in the future."

"Reliable Construction did an amazing job transforming our unfinished basement in Frederick MD into a livable space. Right from the start David were very thorough in understanding what we were looking for and also providing us with great ideas for the remodel. David and his crew were great to work with letting us know when they were planning on starting each day, cleaning up the work area at the end of each day, talking me through the steps they were taking during the build, and quickly responding to questions I had. The work came out so beautifully. I would heavily recommend Reliable Construction and we plan to use them again in the future for other work."

"Five Stars. Background: we hired ARMS Home Improvement to completely remodel two bathrooms: Master and Hall (remove tub and create walk-in shower). Required plumbing, electrical, paint, framework, waterproofing, flooring, and problem-solving for issues that arose in both. Allen worked diligently and patiently with us to provide the bathrooms we designed and envisioned. Provided us with vendors. Worked with us on scheduling. Left the workspaces clean and tidy EVERY day. Gave us options on many decisions for component placement and honored our choices and explained why it would or wouldn't work. Allen respected our community surroundings (parking, trash, etc.) and integrated the work seamlessly into our daily lives. We felt the price paid for the scope of work delivered was of great value. We recommend ARMS Home Improvement very highly for virtually any home improvement project you want to do."

Customers say: True professional

"I asked for a complete bathroom makeover and left the vision up to Mike — and I couldn’t be happier. From securing the foundation and properly waterproofing the space to the final finishing touches, everything was handled with professionalism and care. The black and white tile design is absolutely beautiful and timeless. The built-in bench and handheld shower add comfort and functionality, and I specifically requested a serene, open space without glass — which was executed perfectly. The entire project was completed with great communication, attention to detail, and at a reasonable cost. I absolutely love the finished product and highly recommend Mike, City Renovations & Remodeling, LLC"

"Of three different initial quotes, Fuqua's Remodel Authority was absolutely the best choice in terms of professionalism, reasonable cost, knowledge, straightforwardness, and overall vibe - to be honest. They were flexible and able to work with stuff we bought and ensured that they would be guaranteeing the work and waterproofing, etc. Ryan really worked hard from start to finish to communicate, note our preferences and what we wanted, and to make sure that we were happy. He was not the one coming in to do the work but made sure we felt comfortable with his crew, of which he has multiple working different sites at once. We had the privilege of having Kevon and Alex working on our bathroom. They were terrific. They worked so hard, knew what they were doing and really had a strong work ethic and knowledge of what they were doing. They were very kind and respectful of our space - always ensuring to close doors and clean up and put down floor protection and walk on that. They really took care to never invade our space and appreciate that we were working from home on certain days while they were working on the bathroom. They were incredibly professional and would really be able to work very independently but would also make sure to ask us when there would be specific preference questions like which side did you want which faucet or what size and locations do you want the shower niches. It took a little bit longer than expected - I believe they worked maybe 11 days total including a Saturday to finish the job - but it was a significant job of a fairly large master bathroom that was already totally gutted that needed to be built back up from scratch. Ryan stopped by almost daily and atleast was available via call or text at any time. It was really impressive that Ryan, while visiting other sites all day and going to gather materials from distributors - would still always make time to pick or call you right back and talk through any ideas. There were only a few times that we were concerned - such as when there seemed to be a slant on the shower wall - and they walked us through it and made sure it was built up properly and that we were satisfied with their corrections - and they did a fantastic job. There were a few times where we had asked for something to be changed after - and each time, without making me feel bad - they would remove whatever they had already done to go back and change things the way I wanted. That was really important for me because I didn't want to feel bad when I would say I wasn't happy with something and they were extremely kind and flexible with these kinds of things, including when we decided the shower space was too narrow and we wanted to extend the width - which e us to move required us moving the toilet. It did end up tacking on extra cost, but Ryan made sure to let us know how to remain within codes and when I was nervous they would be mad, Ryan simply said it's okay and reassured me that they're able to make these changes and it's better now than before the tiling is put up. Ryan also got us a great deal on a shower door due to his access to distributors, inventory, etc. They did the entirety of the bathroom - from the finish the seams of drywall, painting, installing toilet and vanity, building up the shower and installing the door, tiling the walls, putting in the baseboard/trim/moulding/casing on the doors and windows and wall/floors/ceiling and the hardware such as mirrors and towels holders. They even came back out when the caulk they had used turned a bit yellow after a few days in one spot and they came out and redid it right away and now it looks terrific. I am so happy with our choice to go with Ryan and his team. Kevon and Alex were AMAZING and Ryan really keeps his pulse on the work and the satisfaction of the customer. 100% recommend them and would very much consider them again for any future remodel ."

Remodel Design questions, answered by experts

You have three options in terms of professionals who can draw up blueprints: a draftsperson, an architect, or a structural engineer. A draftsperson can sometimes draw up plans for new construction, but they more often work from approved plans for alterations or to provide 3D drawings. Architects are usually the best option for standard residential construction projects. Structural engineers might be necessary for custom home builds or for alterations that could affect your home’s structural integrity. Draftsmen cost the least of the three, followed by architects and then structural engineers.

Ensures adherence to local building codes and customized designs to fit personal needs.

Universal design costs can be minimal when you add them during construction; however, adding universal design principles to existing homes can sometimes increase renovation costs. For example, a mid-grade bathroom remodel is estimated to cost around $30,000, while a standard universal design remodel can cost closer to $40,000. Adding accessible design components can include widening hallways ($500 to $2,000), curbless showers ($2,000 to $8,000), and widening doors ($400 to $800). Keep in mind that these increased costs can lead to higher resale values because universal homes may appeal to a wider variety of buyers.

The cost to draw house plans typically ranges from $800 to $2,700, with standard blueprints averaging around $1,800. For a custom home, the cost is higher, with blueprints often falling between $5,000 and $20,000, and potentially more for very complex designs. Several factors influence the total price, including the project's size, the number of rooms, the type of drawings required, and the architect's experience level. You may also need to pay a structural engineer to ensure building safety, particularly for custom homes.

Costs depend on material, size, design complexity, and additional features like lighting or seating.
