"Midland Carpet Cleaning was WONDERFUL!! My recliner(especially) and carpet have not looked this good in years. Robert, the owner and operator, arrived at the beginning of the time window and worked hard for 3 hrs on my carpets. He did a deep clean, hand scrubbed the recliner and some of the more stubborn carpet spots and then did the regular steam cleaning. His prices were more than fair for the amount of time and effort he put into the cleaning. I highly recommend"

"I didnt like the fact that the tech did not have on shoe covers and he walked all over the rooms that were being treated. I did not appreciate that at all. And when I asked why he wasnt wearing them, he said he was going to back out of the living room to the outside so he couldnt walk on the carpet when he was done. Not acceptable. It appeared as if my concern was of little importance to him. Because he didnt have on shoe covers, i had to unplug the machine for him when he was done. Also, the carpet smelled sour after cleaning instead of fresh. perhaps the machine where the water was being held needed to be cleaned. As for the furniture, he did remove some light stains from the seat cushions, but the back pillows were not nearly cleaned to my satisfaction. I wont be using them again. All I saw was plain water coming out of the house to clean the carpet and chairs."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, laying laminate over carpet may void the warranty of your flooring. Most laminate manufacturers specify installation over a suitable subfloor, not carpet. Deviating from these installation guidelines can invalidate the warranty. You should stick to the manufacturer's instructions to ensure warranty coverage, and you should always consult with professional laminate flooring installers near you if you have any concerns or questions regarding installation methods.

While not always required, experts recommend removing baseboards before removing old carpet and installing a new one. This practice leads to a smoother process and a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. Removing the baseboards allows for a seamless carpet installation without the risk of damaging either the carpet or the trim. It also provides a good opportunity to repaint or stain the baseboards and inspect the underlying wall for any issues. If you prefer a quicker option, you can carefully cut the old carpet along the edge of the baseboards, but this may result in a less polished installation for the new carpet.

You can save money on labor costs by removing your old carpet before the professionals come in to install the new carpet. Just make sure to clear it with your contractor ahead of time. You might also be able to cut costs by buying carpet at certain times of year when it’s less expensive. These periods include late December to mid-January and late spring to early summer.

Carpets in earthy, neutral shades should go with everything. Specifically, colors like beige, cream, and gray pair well with other neutrals and more vibrant colors. If you’re concerned about your carpet clashing with your walls or furniture, stay away from loud colors and complicated patterns, which could distract from the rest of your decor.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction and friction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls. Additionally, if a fall does occur, carpet offers more cushioning, which can lessen the severity of an injury. While hard surfaces can look great, they are often more slippery. However, it's worth noting that some carpets, especially if they are new, dirty, or have a slick texture, can also pose a slipping hazard. To improve safety on any type of stair surface, you can add traction treads to increase grip.
