"Just when you are losing faith in people caring about the quality of their work, along came Hayden plumbing and shows you great workmanship still exists. They have done two service calls with us, the first was a scheduled installation of a water softener and filter. The quality of the installation was extremely high and the gentleman was prompt, professional and friendly. He went above and beyond by removing existing hard water deposits on our bathroom fixtures. The second call was a last minute call about a leak from work done by someone else. They were able to get to us quickly and fixed it right. I would highly recommend them!"

8 EMPLOYEES. USES SUBS FOR EXTRA LABOR. COST IS DETERMINED BY THE JOB. NO TRAVEL CHARGES. SERVICE FEE OF $125.00/HOUR FOR FIRST TWO HRS APPLIES AS OF 10/10/08. MAY CONTACT THROUGH E-MAIL.

"Fantastic. We have never had a problem with the work Peck people have done. Things work well and look good. What sets this company apart, though, is the level of service. Everyone has been wonderful to deal with. They come when they say, are pleasant and professional, and genuinely care about making sure they are doing the right work the right way. Recently, we had a Peck plumber out because we had been told there was a problem with the gas line to our oven. He analyzed all possibilities, determined there was no true issue, and offered a range of approaches to make the situation better, if we wished. He listened and advised in a clear manner. Fabulous."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

In some cases, operating a snake can damage your drain and pipes. This depends on the overall condition of your pipes and how gently you operate the auger. For instance, older galvanized pipes covered in zinc are susceptible to scratches when using a drain snake. Additionally, it’s common for newbies to apply too much force when extending the snake, leading to scratches and related damage. You can also crack the porcelain with an electric auger if you’re snaking a toilet drain. If you’re using a manual snake or auger, the risk is minimal.

It is not advisable to use drain cleaner in a washing machine. Drain cleaners contain harsh chemicals that can damage the internal components of your washer, including rubber seals, hoses, and even the drum. These chemicals can also react with any residual detergent or fabric softener, potentially leading to noxious fumes. If your washing machine is experiencing drainage issues, it's best to address the problem directly by inspecting and cleaning the lint filter, checking for clogs in the drain hose, or seeking professional repair services. Using drain cleaner in a washing machine is a risky solution that can cause more harm than good.

You can unclog an AC drain line for free if you already have these household ingredients: water, vinegar, and rags. Alternatively, if you’d rather not deal with the mess, you can hire a pro to clear your drain line. If you go that route, an HVAC service call costs between $100 and $250.

There are several signs that can indicate your leach lines are broken, failing, or in need of repair, including puddles of water or a marshy consistency to the ground above or around the pipes, slow drainage or plumbing backups inside your home, and noticeable odors or gurgling sounds coming from your leach field. Keeping your septic system properly maintained, including having your septic tank pumped at regular intervals, can help ensure your leach lines stay in good working order for a long time.

Your clothes—and your washing machine—will send you a few signals if you’re overdue for cleaning your washing machine filter. If you notice a buildup of detergent residue on your clothes, your clothes don’t dry quickly or at all, or you’re noticing lint in the machine, it’s time to clean the filter.
