"I'm sorry I have no control over rotten pipes that are hidden in your walls and ceilings. The machine that has to go in the pipe rotates a steel cable my normal price for just the sneaking of the drain is $230. And you had to pay an additional $70 to get all new Plumbing pipes. Can't believe it."
Winky (the owner) promptly met me at the property to give me an estimate quickly and on the spot, which included plumbing and drywall/painting work. Originally, he informed me that was not able to start work for about a week out. After receiving another estimate in order to start work earlier (to have less hotel expenses), I still decided to go with Smith Plumbing despite the delay, because the price was better and I just felt more comfortable with his commitment to getting the job done right.
I'm so glad that I did! Smith Plumbing was aware of our situation and busted their hump to start work earlier than projected. They worked over the weekend and got plumbing, drywall and re-painting work done in 2 days! I received regular calls and updates from Winky informing me of progress and getting questions answered. The work looks wonderful.
Jessica who helped schedule to logistics and handled the payment details was also awesome! Once work was completed, she met me at the property to make sure I was satisfied.
Very prompt, professional and good quality.
Winky called that morning to let me know when he would arrive and arrived on time. He repaired the pipe, snaked the drain and cleaned up all within a hour and a half.
I would definitely hire Smith Plumbing for all my future plumbing and remodeling projects!
Throughout the project, my husband and I were thrilled with Winky and his crew and their professional yet friendly work. Once Winky heard we had been without our master bathroom for 6 weeks, he made it his personal mission to complete our project as quickly as possible. I know that they had other jobs going on, but they never made us feel like we were squeezed into the schedule. All of the guys took our project seriously and treated it with as much professionalism as I have ever seen. Winky always took my phone calls or returned them within 15 minutes. We communicated via phone, email, and text message, and it was always easy to reach him with questions or concerns.
The final thing I simply must share with you is that Winky is a fourth-generation plumber who was able to identify the underlying reason that our toilet was leaking -- apparently, this problem had occurred at least once before we bought the house, because whoever replaced the toilet years ago didn't use the proper technique for our 1960s plumbing. The thing that amazed me was that one plumber had already told us we needed to replace the entire plumbing tree in our house, but Winky laughed and said that the pipes would outlast either of us. I have never had a plumber tell me that a repair wasn't necessary. Whether you need to have your entire bathroom redone or just have a problem with one plumbing fixture, Winky can handle it.
He stayed in contact with me so that I would know when to expect him. He showed up at 6:15PM and proceeded to enter the crawlspace with a flashlight to examine the issue. He showed me the scope of the problem as had been pointed out by some insulation contractors that morning. He stated that his schedule had a gap the very next day and that he could replace the pipe and seal the basement wall for $900. As this was causing a delay to the renovation of our crawlspace, I agreed to have him come the next day.
On Tuesday, Winky showed up on time with two workers and immediately got to work. He shuttled parts to them as needed and never tried to upsell me or add to the original quote. The work was completed by 1:30PM and the area was cleaned up and organized when they left.
The kicker is that the crawlspace renovation team raved about his work. They said he had done an excellent job and asked for h
is contact information so that they could refer customers in the future.
Winky was professional, polite, timely and extremely competitive with his pricing. I understand that in our case, he had a space in his schedule that we were able to fill on short notice - and that this is unusual. But to have an issue like this resolved in 24 hours, for the price he quoted, was beyond any reasonable expectation.
I highly recommend this company and will be calling them for any of our future plumbing needs.
Last December Smith Plumbing did a major plumbing fix and a full basement remodel at our home. During the epic storm last September 2011, our basement filled with over 2 feet of water due to the sewer lines backing into the house. We lost everything in our fully finished basement.
As you can imagine, with Hurricane Sandy getting set to bear down on us, I was more than apprehensive to see how our basement would hold up given the amount of rain expected, and our proximity to a creek that is prone to flooding. I just wanted to let you know that we couldn't be happier with how your work held up through Hurricane Sandy. Even with all the rain and us losing power, the basement remained bone dry. I never had any doubt about the quality of your work, but it really gives us great peace of mind knowing that our home is now able to stand up to a significant weather event. I know its almost a full year later, but thank you again for the great job.
Warm Regards,
Steve
If you have a blockage outside your house, you should first call the county in which you live and find out if they have made any modifications or done any maintenance to the nearby lines. If you are having a house built (I bought mine several years after it was built) you should ask questions and become knowledgeable about basic code-required items such as clean-out valves, exterior drains, how the system will work, etc. DO NOT RELY strictly on the county inspectors, as they can miss a lot of violations.
Winky also noticed that I'd accidentally overpaid him by $1,500 and returned the overage within 20 minutes. :)
His team kept the work area clean.
I recently sold my house(in 32 hours!) and I am CERTAIN it is attributatable to the outstanding job Winky and his team did in all of our bathrooms.
My wife and I were VERY pleased with the results.
I'd use him again in heartbeat!
Work commenced on December 12th, and lasted four and a half weeks. Throughout the duration of the job, Winky and his crew acted in a professional and courteous manner. They showed the utmost respect for our home (at the beginning of every work day, they lay tarps down on the hard wood floors to protect them from tracking in dirt from outside. At the end of each day, they remove them and swept up). They showed up on time, would call if there was going to be any delay, and often went the extra mile to work late or work on a weekend day to get the job done. Overall Winky managed the project great, and they delivered on time and on budget. Throughout the entire process, Winky would call every other day to check in and provide us with a work summary of where his crew was, and where they were heading next. Whenever he had the opportunity to go the extra mile he did. He picked up all of our materials, fixtures, etc from Home Depot so that we didn't have to mess up our car, he paid for 2 sessions of complete house cleaning during the job (one right before Christmas as we were hosting, and the second after the job was complete). He purchased 3 new air filters for our furnace at $30+/each ( no pass-back on cost to us) and made sure to replace them regularly during the 2 weeks where there was a significant amount of dust due to demo.
I would recommend Smith Plumbing to anyone, and will be using them in the future for any and all of my plumbing and kitchen/bath needs. Winky is a professional and a gentleman who prides himself on doing things the right way. As a first time homeowner, I was completely overwhelmed with the prospect of having to manage a contractor throughout the course of this massive repair. I wanted to ensure that our interests weren't compromised, and that we didn't get left high and dry by a dishonest contractor. Winky completely eliminated that apprehension of mine from day one. If you are looking for a skilled, dependable, and honest contractor, then you should give Winky at Smith Plumbing a call.
