"They charged $98 to come give me an estimate for swapping our a shower valve cartridge, which was fine, but the pricing they provided was completely unreasonable, $1,000. They were unwilling to provide any detail for the price. I ended up buy the part myself for $30 and replaced it in 30 minutes."

Len The Plumber Heating & Air, LLC is a leading plumbing and drain company serving Central Maryland. Our certified professional plumbers are available same day to assist residential customers in Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Carroll County, Cecil County, Harford County, and Howard County. Our knowledgeable plumbers have years of experience dealing with a wide variety of plumbing issues including plumbing repairs, drain cleaning, water heaters, well systems, heating systems, sewer, water, and gas lines. We’re open 7 days a week with no extra charge on evenings or weekends!

"We’ve used Len the Plumber in the past, and while they’ve been slightly overpriced, they’ve been reliable and effective. But after this week I’ll be taking my plumbing business elsewhere, and I would highly recommend that anyone else do the same. Several times over the past few weeks we’ve had issues with the sink and toilet in one bathroom. A little less than a month ago, a Len the Plumber tech had replaced the toilet in that bathroom (not for the same issue). On Friday I called Len the Plumber to have someone come out and take a look. The woman who answered the phone said she would have the same tech that had installed the toilet come out that afternoon between 2 and 5pm. At 2:41pm someone from Len the Plumber called. She said that unfortunately that tech wasn’t scheduled to work that day and the appointment shouldn’t have been made. She told me he could come out Sunday morning between 8 and 11am. At 8:43 Sunday morning, a woman from Len the Plumber called to say the tech would be out in 30-45 minutes. Eight minutes later she called back to say that no, he doesn’t have a snake, so she’ll have to send someone else later. I told her he wouldn’t need a snake, that it wasn’t clogged right now. She said she’d discuss with the tech and call me back. At 8:58am she called me back and said that it sounded like the P-trap was clogged, and the tech would need a snake. I asked why he didn’t have one with him (since he worked for a company called Len the Plumber) and why he couldn’t just swing by a hardware store and pick one up. She said the techs don’t always have snakes, and sometimes they break and need to be fixed. She said she could send someone else out later in the day. I told her that we wouldn’t be here later, and that we had made plans around the tech coming out this morning (after we had made plans around the tech coming out on Friday). She said she would try to get someone out during the same timeframe, within the next two hours. At 10:36am she called back and said that she could have a different tech come out in 30-60 minutes. I told her no, we had planned to be home based on the 8-11 timeframe that we’d been given, and that wouldn’t work. She said she was sorry, but they had emergencies. I canceled the appointment and will never be using Len the Plumber again. The fact that a plumbing company can schedule a call two days in advance for a technician to come out for a problem with a sink and toilet, and neither the tech nor the dispatcher realizes that the tech doesn’t have a snake with him (and for some reason he can’t just pick one up) speaks volumes about the company’s competency. Add to that the bungling of the initial appointment, and the fact that a Len the Plumber tech told me to my face that he has no way of knowing what model toilet he installed in my house without physically coming out to see it, and this is clearly a poorly-run company with an outdated and/or low-quality field service and dispatch system. There are many competent plumbing companies in the mid-Atlantic area. Len the Plumber is not one of them."

We are a Family owned local business with over 20 years of experience in the Basement Waterproofing field. Our focus is quality work and an honest assessment. You will notice our attention to detail and level experience from our office staff, to our field inspector, and our installation crews. We have zero salesman on staff, just the best inspector and installation crew in the business.

"Gary arrived on time , inspected the basement and the perimeter of the house and told me that what I need is to work on the gutters and downspouts. If that doesn’t solve the issue then I should consider a French Drain and sump pump on one side of the house and that would cost me around $3500. JES tried to make me sign a contract for 32k a couple of days ago and they wanted me to basically destroy the entire finished basement on top of it. I appreciate Gary’s honesty, it’s so hard to find someone like that nowadays. I will definitely called Armored Basement Waterproofing if still needed after fixing the gutters. 100% recommended!"

For over 40 years Paul Kingston, the owner of Chesapeake Plumbing has made it his mission to offer quality service at a fair price. We are family owned and operated, living and working in Pasadena, treating our customers like family! We offer Emergency Service, after hours, weekends and holidays, for our customer convenience. Certified and licensed master plumbers provide well pump, sewer line, water heater and drain cleaning services. Our installation, repair and inspection services are provided to customers residing in Baltimore, Pasadena, Glen Burnie, Annapolis, Odenton and other surrounding areas in Maryland. Additional phone - (410) 437-4141.

"My fault that I didn't discuss price first. My daughter and I took pipes apart, cleaned them out and determined the clog was in the wall. Two guys were here an hour and a half and finally broke through the clog with a snake and shop vac. My "sticker shock" comes from the fact that my husband, when he was able, did all the maintenance in the house.... In the tiny space there was to work in, I'm not sure why two people were needed when one could barely fit. I do know that I was charged full for mechanic AND helper. I will do my research before hiring another contractor. Glad to have a free running drain."

In 1967, Steve and Mick Heidler took over the company and expanded Heidler, Inc. into a full service plumbing and heating company that provides service to both residential and commercial accounts, bathroom and kitchen remodel clients, and keeps customers warm with gas log fireplaces. Heidler, Inc. uses advanced technology to diagnose sewer and drain problems with state of the art video inspection equipment. Technicians are trained in the latest methods and techniques to provide quality service and customer satisfaction. Employees are encouraged to pursue their education in the plumbing industry, and we pair Apprentice plumbers with Journeymen and Master plumbers for hands on experience to better meet customer needs. Heidler, Inc. has a fleet of nineteen fully stocked box trucks and vans and a warehouse on site to equip our technicians before they leave the shop. Our fully integrated computer system handles all billing and service requests and we dispatch our technicians to you via radio to take care of your plumbing emergencies faster 24-7.

"I don't recommend Heidler. Last month the internal mechanism in a 16-year-old pressure-assist toilet needed service or replacement (the water had started running constantly after flushing). I set an appointment for Heidler to come the next week and sent a photo of the internal mechanism's product information so the tech could bring parts. Plumber Tom arrived unprepared. He charged $200 for the house visit to diagnose that we needed a new mechanism installed, and said they'd email an estimate as they'd need to order it. We thought there was a mistake when we got the $850 estimate. I called the Heidler office (whose service manager also thought the estimate sounded high) and requested a corrected estimate. We didn't hear from anyone at Heidler again. We watched 20 minutes of youtube videos, bought the $177 mechanism from Amazon, and borrowed a pipe wrench. It took us amateurs 55 minutes to replace the mechanism ourselves. It wasn't difficult. Our opinion is Heidler planned to grossly overcharge us for an easy job."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

There are several steps you can take to prevent your AC drain from clogging. This includes cleaning the drain line at least every three months, changing the filter every one to three months, and getting your AC serviced annually. Also, if any problems arise with your AC, hire an HVAC technician to deal with them ASAP.

You should hire a sewer service professional to unclog a main sewer line with tree roots. Tree roots can grow into the main sewer line, and this problem requires a specialized hydro jet, or rooter, that is powerful enough to clear the roots. The tree can also damage the main sewer line, and a professional will need to make repairs or replace the damaged sections. Sewer line replacement costs about $60 to $250 per linear foot.

As a general rule of thumb, it’s best to clean your linear drain every two to three months to prevent debris buildup. However, if you notice it draining slowly or an odor from your drainpipes, it’s best to clear the clogged drain and maintain it more often. If you let a clog go for too long, you may have to invest in the price of professional shower drain cleaning, which costs about $225.

No. You should never pour old paint down a drain or sewer because it can clog pipes and pollute the environment. You must dispose of paint properly and safely. Different types of paint need to be disposed of in different ways—oil-based paints must be taken to a paint recycling center, while you can throw dried-out water- or latex-based paints in the garbage.

Keep your egress window from flooding by ensuring that the drainage system in the window well is clear and in good working condition. Inspect the window well every few months to remove any blockages and test the drainage system. It’s better to discover potential problems before your window well fills with water during heavy rain.
