"I use Extra Green on a bi-weekly schedule to clean my house. I've been working with them for more than a year across 2 locations. In my experience, cleaning services on a long-time retainer can get lazy and eventually cut corners. I have never had that issue with Extra Green. Everything always looks impeccable."

"We have used VA Window Cleaners for the past 15 years.  They are an established company and provide excellent customer service.  They keep a record of the service they provided for you which makes using them easier each time...it is as simple as finding a convenient day and they arrive on time and get right to work.  We have had familiar faces return each year to clean our windows.  A number of their service providers have been with them for 20+ years.
We have a large home and many windows - they are not newer windows so take a little extra time to clean.  VA Window Cleaning works efficiently and they strive to make the customer happy.  The windows sparkle, they work hard to keep their impact in your home to a minimum, wear covers over their shoes, place all work materials on large carpet squares to keep things tidy, and always do excellent work!
I love to support smaller family businesses and this is one we will continue to use year after year.

House Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Our guide can also work for old tomato stains. If you’re trying to get rid of a lingering spot from spaghetti dinners past, you can skip step one and jump directly to step two.

Pro tip: Allow soaking time for older stains. We recommend waiting at least 10 minutes between applying your cleaning solution and blotting it up.

Virtually any material in your basement can absorb and hold onto musty odors, including building materials like wood framing, insulation, drywall, and flooring, as well as cloth furniture, clothes, area rugs, cardboard boxes in storage, and more. If you’re looking to get rid of the musty smell in your basement, it’s a good idea to remove or replace these items and address the underlying moisture issue for the fastest results.

Cat pee has a strong ammonia-like smell, so if you smell cat pee but don’t have a cat or don’t suspect your cat has any accidents, there could be other issues at hand. Aside from pet urine, your house may smell like cat pee from leaking freon from an old fridge, mold, spilled cleaning supplies, or even outside odors from nearby farms.

Putting off cleaning your fridge is a bad idea for a few reasons. For one, any food spills can build up, making it much harder to clean your fridge when you finally do get around to it. Plus, any stray pickle juice or leaky leftovers are a recipe for a stinky fridge.

But beyond that, if you don’t clean your fridge, it could be a health hazard. Old food can turn moldy and old spills can too. Even if none of that scares you, putting off cleaning your fridge will make it look downright gross, which should be reason enough to break out your sponge.

Attics are particularly dusty because dirt and pollen enter through cracks in your insulation and then sit untouched for long periods of time. To control dust in your home, it's important to vacuum and wipe down attic surfaces whenever you clean. If you use your attic as a finished living space, consider adding an air purifier or speaking with a roofing contractor about possible openings in the top of your home.
