"Working with Creative Surfaces was a great experience, from start to finish! I wasn't sure which material to use for a new kitchen counter, so they helped me to decide on Staron, based on my work needs, and offered suggestions on color, sinks tyles and counter design. When they arrived at our house to take measurements and assess the work, Mark arrived promptly, and spent a lot of time inspecting the kitchen. We explained some of our concerns, which were the results of a REALLY BAD experience with a kitchen contractor who did an earlier remodel. That previous contractor made a lot of errors, took bad shortcuts, and left inferior work that would make the new counter installation a bit more challenging: the old (laminate) counters were not level, cabinets were not flush-mounted with the walls, and walls were not level. The counter installation required a lot more work than the average job. To correctly install the counter, Mark needed to make a lot of corrective work, such as re-adjusting cabinets to ensure they were level, making modifications to a section of drywall so the counter would lay flat against the walls, and more work that he didn't anticipate. I had purchased two faucets, and wasn't sure which we preferred. Mark helped us choose between the two, and installed the faucet for us. When I mentioned that we were in the process of waiting for an IKEA-approved contractor to call us back (after three messages left with contractor) regarding our IKEA cabinetry needs, he suggested that he do it for us. We had been able to install doors ourselves, but we wanted a professional to help with the face-outs and toe-kicks. Mark took off the old face-outs and toe-kicks, took measurements, and brought the (new) replacements to his shop to measure and cut. Within a few days, he returned for the installation. He offered the above-and-beyond cabinetry work at no charge, in lieu of a recommendation, but I insisted on providing both--it really was a lot more work than he bargained for!!! We had such bad experiences with our previous work in the kitchen that I wasn't sure what to expect with this go-around. It was everything we could have wanted and wished for, and more. Based on our complete satisfaction with the kitchen counter installation, we've asked him to help us with counters for our two baths, and without hesitation recommend Creative Surfaces to others who are looking for new counters."

"MY HUSBAND AND I SHOPPED AROUND AT A NUMBER OF GRANITE YARDS AND DESIGNER SHOWROOMS TRYING TO FIND A COUNTERTOP WE BOTH LIKED. I WANTED SILESTONE, HE WANTED GRANITE. OUR CONTRACTOR HAD GIVEN US A DEADLINE AND WE WERE GETTING DOWN TO THE WIRE. ADI CORP WAS THE FIRST PLACE WE VISITED THAT NOT ONLY HELPED US WITH SELECTION OF A COLOR AND STONE THAT WE BOTH LIKED, BUT THEY WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE US WITH AN ACCURATE INITIAL ESTIMATE (BASED ON MEASUREMENTS WE PROVIDED). THEY CAME TO OUR HOME TO MEASURE OUR COUNTERTOP AND THEN PROVIDED A REVISED, MORE ACCURATE (BUT IN THE SAME BALLPARK) ESTIMATE. I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE LEVEL OF SERVICE FROM ALL OF THE STAFF INCLUDING THE OWNER, SALES, STONE CUTTERS, AND INSTALLERS. THE PROCESS THEY USED TO CALCULATE THE COST WAS THOROUGH AND THERE WERE NO HIDDEN COSTS OR SURPRISES. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND ADI. ALL OF THE STAFF WERE WONDERFUL."

"This is such a wonderful company to work with! The owner and employees are all very professional; and they pride themselves in the quality of their workmanship.
We visited (and re-visited) most of the granite sources in our area. The Paradise Stone has beautiful granite, but we and quot;wanted to be sure.and quot; They were so patient, and they did not bother us with phone calls. After talking with the other companies and checking the quality of their workmanship, we knew that we had to go back to The Paradise Stone. They made a template and offered wonderful suggestions, which enhanced the final product. We were right about their workmanship. The installation went perfectly, and we love our new counter tops.
If you are considering a granite project, I highly recommend a visit to The Paradise Stone. Their displays are amazing, and they showcase their workmanship.

"KBR, under the leadership of our excellent designer Armagan, did a fantastic job renovating our guest bathroom into a full bath. They converted a closet that had been next to the bathroom into a beautiful walk-in rain-head shower with a seated bench. KBR had hundreds of beautiful tile options and they did an excellent and very professional job installing and grouting them in a perfect subway style. Armagan helped us to design everything to fit in a small space that feels much more spacious than we expected and looks like a spa. KBR also is currently working on renovating our kitchen, and we have been very happy with the results thus far. Armagan was very helpful in finding the exact materials we were envisioning and the quality of the materials (semi-custom cabinets and countertops) is excellent--exactly what we had imagined. We have also been pleased with the renovation crew who have been very personable and easy to work with in making decisions on final touches, etc. We met with and received quotes from multiple contractors and KBR was reasonably priced, even including high quality materials in the original quote. I would highly recommend KBR and Armagan to anyone looking to renovate (and in fact have already connected my brother and sister-in-law with them for potential work)."

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

The angle at which you cut countertops depends on the material, your intended outcome, and the location of the cut. For example, rather than cutting a straight 90-degree angle for internal corners, cut edges at a 45-degree angle to give a clean, professional look. For outside edges, most homeowners want squared-off sides, so 90-degree angles can make the most sense there. Because you want to get angles exactly right to minimize seams and eliminate the need for patching, be sure to measure several times before cutting and use the right equipment to get sharp, accurate angles.

Formica® countertops last an average of 10 to 15 years. Top-quality materials that are well looked after and in a low-traffic kitchen could look good for 20 to 30 years or more—but you may want to replace them to modernize your space before they start to look shabby. Avoiding harsh cleaners and using chopping boards can help keep your Formica® countertops looking good for longer.

The most expensive countertop materials are marble and granite. These natural materials are very heavy and require specialized tools and knowledge to install. Their natural veins and flecks elevate the design and make a beautiful statement in the kitchen or bathroom. Because they’re natural, no two countertops will be the same.

A minimum overhang of 10 to 12 inches is generally recommended for countertop or island seating to provide enough legroom. For increased comfort, an overhang of 15 to 18 inches is ideal, allowing for more space and a relaxed experience. However, a 10-inch overhang can be sufficient in certain situations, such as for bar-height countertops, when using small stools, or in smaller kitchens where space is limited. Taller countertops may also require less overhang than shorter ones. Ultimately, you should consider your specific needs for legroom and measure to ensure the overhang fits comfortably within your kitchen's layout.

Concrete countertops require regular upkeep and can be harder to maintain than other materials. For daily cleaning, use a mild, pH-neutral cleaner and avoid harsh, acidic products that can damage the sealant. It's important to wipe up spills immediately, especially from acidic substances, as concrete stains easily. To prevent scratches, always use a cutting board. The countertops must be resealed periodically—at least once a year—to protect them from stains and moisture. Be aware that concrete is also prone to cracking over time and may require repairs.
