Customers say: Super punctual

"Jose and his crew took down a huge 200+ year old tree on our property. They did an excellent job! They are professional experts and we will most definitely call them again to trim and/or remove the other old trees that need attention. Jose was quick to answer our call and worked with our schedule. We highly recommend MW Tree Service!"

"I hired J&D Landscaping to cut down an old tree, plant new ones, and take care of mulching and grass trimming. Mr. William and his team were amazing! "Edgar and his team removed three trees from my neighbor's yard, trimmed a number of trees in my yard, and handled a number of projects to improve my property including adding soil, grading, seeding, and mulching. The tree removal required a crane to lift sections of the trees over my neighbor's house due to their location and proximity to the house. All stumps were removed and covered with grass seed, and the yard looks like the trees were never there. All of the work was performed with care and precision. Edgar and his entire crew are all friendly, professional, and dependable, and I would highly recommend them."

Delaware River Jack stone filling in bare dirt areas. Forming a stone bed.
In this project, we transformed a bare dirt area by using Blue Ice stone in the corner. Along the patio border, we added Delaware River Jack to seamlessly connect the entire stone bed around the pool.

"I contacted Baumann's after being blown off by another "A" rated company on Angie's list in the Silver Spring area. Although I have a townhouse with a very small yard, I really wanted to get rid of my lawn full of weeds and give my house some low-maintenance curb appeal. Ron came out the day after I spoke to him and left an estimate for the work. I agreed to everything expect removal of a tree stump as it was on community property. Due to rainy weather, it took Baumann's about two weeks to come out and do the work. It turned out great! Ron even removed the tree stump for free as he didn't want it to detract from my lawn. I highly recommend Baumann's as they really take pride in their work no matter how big or small."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

The ideal depth of a tree notch depends on the tree, but it should usually be between 20% and 25% of the tree’s depth. However, if the tree is leaning towards the direction of the notch, it can be cut more shallowly—at as little as 10% of the depth. When the tree is leaning away from the direction it needs to be felled, you can cut deeper, closer to 30%.

Carefully pruning small roots no thicker than three inches in diameter won’t harm the tree. However, cutting larger roots may impact the tree's stability and nutrient absorption. It's advisable to consult an arborist or tree care professional to evaluate the root's size, the tree's health, and the potential impact of cutting. Proper tree pruning techniques and timing can minimize damage, but larger root removal may necessitate expert guidance to avoid compromising the tree's overall health and stability.

Late August, September, and mid-October are the ideal months for planting a young tree. However, the best time to plant a tree ultimately depends on when the weather transitions to fall-like conditions and eventually winter frost. As long as the hottest days of summer have passed and the ground hasn’t frozen yet, you can still successfully plant trees.

Large, established tree branches won’t grow roots, but if you find a young tree branch that’s less than about a year old, you’ve got a shot. Put it in water or soil as soon as possible for best results. You’ll know the branch is viable if it’s about the thickness of a pencil and has some leaves or needles.

Rock salt or Epsom salt can damage and kill tree roots over several weeks and can even assist in removing the tree's stump. However, you need to drill holes or cut into the stump and surface tree roots to inject them properly with the salt. Repeat the process every two weeks until the roots visibly rot away.
