"Called Paul to consult on a quick charger for an electric vehicle as well as to replace several outdoor outlets at my home. He went above and beyond to plot out the best and cheapest path from our electrical panel to the driveway in our renovated and added onto â 50â s ranch. The work he did I was quick and quality. We have plans to have him back for more in the spring. Highly recommend!"

"I could not be more pleased with DiMasi Electric. We were having an issue with some outlets in our kitchen. The DiMasi team was super responsive from our initial inquiry through completion of the job. As soon as I explained the issue, they knew how to solve it, and when they arrived exactly on time a few days later, had it fixed in an hour. They were also very upfront about pricing and came in well below the estimate they provided us. DiMasi will be our first call the next time we need electrical help!"

"Jonathan was very patient, provided excellent service and did an exceptional job with our electrical upgrades and our entire home rewire (as it initially had Knob and Tube wiring). I'll be using him again and have referred him to other friends for their electrical needs."

"Steve comes highly recommended! He got back to me very quickly after I initiated a search for an electrician, and he arrived just two hours later! Steve is both friendly and professional and did a great job of installing a Nest thermostat and also showing me how my fuse box worked to get lights back on in my BR (which had gone off). He gave me an estimate before he came, and there were no additional charges or surprises. When I had a question later about the thermostat operation, he was helpful and took my call even though it was "after hours." Steve will be my go-to guy if I have another electrical issue!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For a smooth electrical project in Salem, coordinate early with local historic commissions if your home is in a protected district. Build in two to three weeks for permit approvals and arrange any necessary utility shutoffs ahead of time. Schedule work outside of Salem’s peak tourist season to improve contractor availability, and notify neighbors about possible power interruptions. Ordering specialty materials, especially for historic homes, can help prevent delays and keep your project moving efficiently.

Helpful?

In Salem, overloading circuits with space heaters or portable air conditioners, especially during harsh seasons, can strain your electrical system. Skipping routine GFCI outlet testing or using extension cords instead of installing new outlets can also cause premature wear. Moisture from poor ventilation in kitchens and bathrooms, combined with coastal humidity, may corrode wiring and outlets, so regular checks and prompt repairs help extend your system’s lifespan.

Helpful?

In Salem, main electrical panels, kitchens, and bathrooms are common areas needing attention, especially in older or historic homes. GFCI outlets are often required in wet areas, while attics and basements may still have outdated knob-and-tube wiring. Exterior outlets and garage circuits are also vulnerable to coastal weather, making regular inspections and timely electrical panel upgrades essential for maintaining safety and reliable power throughout your home.

Helpful?

Combining electrical work with other home upgrades in Salem can help streamline your renovation process and reduce overall disruption. Coordinating projects like electrical panel upgrades with kitchen remodels or insulation improvements allows for shared permits and fewer inspection appointments. This approach is especially beneficial for historic homes, as it minimizes repeated wall openings and helps you avoid delays from Salem’s unpredictable winter weather, keeping your project on track.

Helpful?

Completing electrical upgrades in Salem homes enhances comfort by supporting modern appliances, home offices, and electric vehicle charging. Replacing outdated wiring and adding dedicated circuits reduces fire risks and power interruptions, which is especially important in historic neighborhoods. Upgrading to LED lighting and installing GFCI outlets also boosts energy efficiency, helping you manage utility use during long Massachusetts winters and enjoy a safer, more reliable living space.
