"Jeremiah and his crew did a fantastic job. They arrived on time, worked very hard in the small hot attic space, did not waste time and were very professional. Jeremiah explained from start to finish what the job entailed. When the job was completed, Jeremiah explained all that was done and wanted to make sure we were completely satisfied before leaving. They also cleaned up and did not leave a mess. We are very pleased with Green Collar and Jeremiah and his crew!"

"Peterson delivered oil for only the second time to my house and the very next day my boiler stopped working. When a tech from another company came out he diagnosed it as bad oil which damaged the boiler due to the bad mixture causing the system to run sluggish and the primary control to shut down. I had no heat and water for several hours. When Peterson pumped out my tank what was in there can only be described as what looked like thick bacon grease. When I asked if they could come clean my tank the customer service agent came back and said her manager would not do that because I decided I was no longer getting oil from Peterson and went with another company. I spoke to the manager who was rude and did nothing to rectify this situation. Instead of receiving my full money back like I asked I was sent a bill for their tech who came out and changed a filter which was gummed up due to their oil. Imagine being asked to pay for a service caused by oil they delivered. Seems like a pretty good scam doesn't it? After calling numerous times to try and get my money back and being given several different responses I was finally paid back money I desperately needed. However, Peterson refused to give me a full payment back stating that their technicians pumped out less than a tank even though the new company came and filled my entire tank with fresh oil. Rather than continue to fight with this company I decided to go to the attorney general. You should too if you have had similar experiences. Hopefully the attorney general will finally step in. The state fined Peterson $450,000, but what about the consumers who have been negatively impacted by this company? They never gave me options for other oil until I complained. By the time I was told about biodiesel it was too late and I had to pay to have my boiler fixed. If research shows that Biodiesel is not good to use in cold temperatures why does Peterson think it is ok to put 40-80% in peoples tanks which is way over the recommended amount of 5-20%?"

To buy heating oil for your house, contact local heating oil companies to compare prices and place an order once you decide on a supplier. The company will have to deliver your heating oil in a truck designed to carry and dispense heating oil safely. Call and order your heating oil early enough to have your oil delivered before you need to start using it for home heating.
On average, you’ll need about two gallons of oil per day to heat your house when it’s 50 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Most oil tank capacity is about 275 gallons, and heating your house with two gallons of oil per day will last about four and a half months. This consumption will vary depending on the climate and average temperature in your location. For example, if the winters are longer and colder where you live, you’ll probably need to refill your oil tank at least once to get through the winter.
You save money on heating oil in a few ways:
Make sure your home is well insulated and sealed against drafts and heat leakage.
Use a thermostat that’s working properly and calibrated accurately.
Increase energy efficiency by insulating your basement and attic.
Turn down your thermostat a few degrees.
Program your thermostat to lower the heat when you’re not home.
Order heating oil during the off-season when prices are likely to be lower.
Summer months tend to be when heating oil prices are lowest because of decreased demand. Buying heating oil during the off-season also prepares you for when the weather gets cold, and you need to start using the oil to heat your home. Although heating oil prices will fluctuate, it’s best to avoid purchasing between September and April, as that's the peak season for heating oil demand.
Overall, heating your home with an oil furnace tends to be less expensive than heating your home with an electric heating system. Oil heating systems stay warm for longer periods of time without drawing a constant electrical current to maintain a temperature. Plus, heating oil systems typically have a longer lifespan and lower price tag than their electrical counterparts, resulting in short- and long-term savings.
