"Great! Our initial job was back in March when we needed work done asap so we could have cable. They responded and took the time to help us. They wired the whole house for cable within the week. Excellent job on everything! We have used them several times since then. Would highly recommend and will definitely use them for future projects!

"I was happy with the work done by Matt and his crew on my roof replacement. Of the highlights, Matt excelled at customer service. I had spoken to several contractors during the bidding process and Matt clearly stood out as someone to provide detailed guidance and credible advice on the project. As my roof was being replaced as part of an insurance claim, Matt took the initiative to bring in additional contractors to build out an initial estimate for all of the work, to get things moving with the insurance company, which was a huge help. Matt took things a bit further and spoke directly with the insurance company regarding details of my roof and other work that was not started yet and was able to help me gain significantly more coverage than originally provided! Matt was always available for questions and promptly returned my calls and emails throughout the process. In one instance, I had requested that they hold off on installation of the ice and water shield one day due to the cold temperatures. Matt agreed to this with no hesitation, even though it required them to work the weekend to complete the work. Per my inspection throughout the roofing process and after, everything looked good and I found only a few things that were missed, which Matt took care of immediately. Some mess and nails were left behind after the work, but it was fairly minimal. Due to the scale of the work, Matt / MMP did bring in subcontractors to perform much of the standard roofing work. I would have appreciated if MMP was more forthcoming about this earlier in the process. MMP had someone from their team on-site for the entire process, but I think that they could have kept a closer eye on the sub-contractors work. For the more challenging tasks, Matt came out and did the work himself. He and his team worked hard throughout the process, working long hours and through the weekend to get everything completed in a timely manner and reduce risk of water leakage in case of rain. I will certainly consider MMP for future work on my house."

"Dos;   Men were diligent in getting the job done.  Even though it was a simple job.  The location (basement) made it precarious.
They did a good job despite the difficulties.

Don'ts; Took awhile to get back to me as to when they would be out to do the work  and were not totally prepared to preform the work.  They did not have all the materials with them when they arrived and had to go back to their shop to get them, twice."

"I have nothing but good things to say about Philip Mills, his crew, and his company, Cassana HVAC. I wanted to install heat-pumps for central heat and air in my large home, and I solicited a few bids. Philip responded promptly to my request to visit my home and provide a detailed estimate. His price was quite competitive, the work started on time, and he and his crew did an excellent job. Indeed, I am so impressed with Cassana HVAC that I am now using them to work on other systems in my home. I highly recommend Philip Mills."

"Our basement was "finished" in the 1970's. Not long after the work was completed, it flooded to 8 inches deep. My in-laws owned the house at the time. They merely shop vac-ed and let it all dry on it's own. All paneling, carpeting and furniture was never cleaned professionally.
Shortly after it had flooded, the town installed storm drains in the street in front of the house. The basement has not had standing water since.
 BUT..
Due to the in-laws old age and their not realizing the sprinkler system was leaking along the foundation, there developed several weak spots where water would seep in and dampen the carpeting.
We bought the house, moved in ............. the basement had brown mold, was nearly unbearable, definitely unhealthy, and just plain gross.
Salesman came to see our situation. He recommended someone to come in and gut the basement of all organic material and clean to kill the mold. (non Pioneer)
He wrote up an estimate to resolve our situation. We did need to trim some of the recommendations due to our budget. He worked with us and submitted a great plan.
After the basement was cleaned of mold we made the appointment for the Pioneer job to proceed.
Pioneer workers came in on time, did the necessary jobs, made a lot of noise in the basement but that was expected and kind of made us giggle from upstairs. Feeling your floors vibrate does tickle.
They finished in one day.
Drilled, dug, installed and did finished work on a new sump pump system including PVC pipe through basement wall to exterior, up to 10 feet from house with a drain. The 10 feet of exterior PVC was included in the packaged price. Later it proved to be not enough footage from the house.
My only regret is wishing the salesman would have stressed more to us that, where the outside drain was to set would be in an area too flat and with not enough slope for the expelled water to flow away from the house.
I imagine he knew our budget and felt the added expense would be not be considered if mentioned. At the time, this was probably true. We learned later on and decided to extend the pipe to the street, on our own.
They also brought in an AMAZING dehumidifier that drains it's self into the sump pump hole.
I LOVE this machine. The dehumidifier does an amazing job.
I recommend the dehumidifier to anyone with a damp musty/moldy smelling basement. Pricey, but I now have 2 due to one needing repair. It's a love hate dehumidifier relationship :) On going but I know I must have it operating and I know I can trust Pioneer to make it right.
The weekend after our sump pump was installed, it rained 3 inches. The pump worked hard and our basement stayed dry, great smelling and is now office/entertainment area. And another time of a 4 inch rain, the pump ran every 15 seconds at it's most busy time. It has been 4 years and we are still DRY DRY DRY and so so happy.
When the first dehumidifier went on the fritz, I asked a friend who does heating/cooling work to find me another one. Later, I called Pioneer. They came in, took it out for repair and left me a loaner.
I don't know if another basement business would go above and beyond the way Pioneer Basement has, for us.
We are very happy to have hired them. And very happy with their follow up care, maintenance and service.

"John and his team worked to transform our unfinished basement into an amazing space for our family. We had originally reached out to John based on the great reviews he had on Angie's List. After meeting with him, we felt really comfortable with his style and approach and decided to wait close to a year to work with him as he was finishing other projects. This was truly the best decision we could have made. John and Kim are the gold standard when it comes to a contractor team. John was great at laying out a plan, giving us options, walking through countless scenarios that we proposed to him, and then stepping back to let us make decisions about our project. We never felt like we were being pushed into a decision we didn't like and it always felt like our goals were his priority. He was also great about explaining the next steps and detailing out the cost of our choices so we could make informed decisions along the way and not be surprised by a big bill. On top of this, and more importantly, the Lancaster's attention to communication is truly what separates them from the rest of the pack. We always felt we had a direct line to them through Kim. She would constantly be updating us on the project, informing us when a subcontractor would be coming, and connecting us immediately to John if we had any questions or concerns. I can't stress enough how invaluable this aspect is when you are working on a project in your home. Furthermore, the attention to detail and craftsmanship of John and his subcontractors was superb. We now have an amazing finished basement with a family/TV room, home office, home gym, bathroom, and plenty of well designed storage. This was our first time ever working with a contractor and we truly hit the jackpot. We will without a doubt use them again for future projects in our home."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Depending on what the blueprints are for, a qualified draftsperson, contractor, or architect can draw them up. In some cases, including specialty permitting for a build, you may be required to use a licensed architect.

In many cases, a blueprint drawn up by a certified professional is required before a city or municipality approves a permit.

Framing is often the most expensive phase of building a house because it’s time-consuming and requires a lot of materials. It costs between $20,000 and $50,000 on average, depending on materials and labor costs. Before construction begins, it’s possible that purchasing land is the priciest step in the process. Some plots of land sell for $3,000, while others cost upwards of $150,000.

Aging-in-place universal design features can make your home more comfortable for family members who are older or have disabilities; they can also make your home safer. In addition, adding a universal-design bathroom can boost your home’s overall resale value.

Mid-century modern architecture was a popular home style throughout the U.S. from the 1950s to 1970s. Most homes feature a wide and symmetrical floor plan with low-sloped roofs and floor-to-ceiling windows. Its minimalism and balanced appearance are back on the home style scene, particularly when maximizing sunlight, airflow, and a blend with the home's natural surroundings.

You'll find Arts and Crafts homes across the country in varying styles. On the East Coast, bungalows and Tudor Revivals fill the Boston area through New Jersey. In the West, Mission-style homes incorporate terracotta shingles, white stucco siding, and rounded archways.
