"Rob and his crew at Platinum Plumbing were extremely responsive, and clearly made the extra effort to get my AC working again this summer! Over the years we have had several jobs with them / including a furnace 20 years ago, which has given us zero problems. I swear that Rob left my basement cleaner than when he got there! Each time we get a fair price and great communication. While my first choice is to not need a plumber at all, when I do need one, I am glad I can call Platinum!"

"Ken was extremely courteous, prompt and proficient. His price for the plumbing work was reasonable and far less than other Plumbing companies had quoted. I am very pleased with his service and will pass his companies name along to friends and family who may need plumbing work in the future."

"Called them up for replacing my cracked sewage pipe in the basement. They came out, gave a free estimate with reasonable pricing and immediate availability. Did a courtesy camera scope of the entire sewage pipe out to the city line while the pipes were open. Finished work within estimated window and charged at the original estimated price. Polite and clear with communication."

"Great service! I was in a fix. My old kitchen faucet was not working. Not only did I get a quick response, the faucet replacement was done on the same day. Jeremy’s work was on time, fast, clean and efficient. I was thrilled to get such great service for such a small job. I will use J Griffin for all my plumbing needs in the future."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Functional plumbing work requires permits and a licensed professional, while purely cosmetic fixture swaps do not. However, cosmetic updates in older MA homes frequently uncover serious functional hazards, such as corroded galvanized pipes or lead contamination. Aesthetic issues like discolored water or stained fixtures actually stem from underlying functional water quality problems. Address the root cause with proper filtration rather than just replacing the stained sink.

Helpful?

As your Ipswich home ages, plumbing evolves significantly. Historic houses built before 1900 require full pipe replacement to remove corroded galvanized steel or lead. Mid-century properties with copper pipes face pinhole leaks caused by naturally acidic local groundwater. Homes relying on private wells experience accelerated fixture degradation from mineral buildup. Decades of coastal freezes also cause cumulative pipe damage in uninsulated walls, making regular inspections essential.

Helpful?

Routine plumbing maintenance in MA requires strict winterization. Insulate or drain pipes in unheated crawl spaces to prevent severe freeze damage. Maintain your water quality systems by replacing media and replenishing salt in softeners or iron filters. Seasonal coastal properties demand annual system flushing and recommissioning each spring. You must also test sump pumps before spring snowmelts and pump private septic tanks every three to five years.

Helpful?

Schedule plumbing updates if your Ipswich home was built before 1940 to remove hazardous lead or galvanized pipes. Any change in water color, taste, or smell indicates a pressing need for system evaluation. Inspect your property after every winter for unexplained water stains, damp walls, or reduced pressure caused by frost damage. Seasonal properties require immediate attention if you discover unexpected pressure loss during spring reopening.

Helpful?

After finishing a plumbing project in Ipswich, a licensed professional must arrange a final inspection to close out your permits. Test your water quality for lead and bacteria, especially if your property relies on a private well. Re-insulate all exposed pipes immediately to prevent winter freeze damage. Ask your contractor to provide updated as-built drawings of your new layout to simplify future maintenance and required inspections.
