"Roy was a lifesaver! On a Saturday night I realized my house keys went missing and I got an almost immediate response when I reached out. I made an appointment with him for the morning and he called 15 min prior to tell me he was on his way. When he arrived he was a few minutes early. Using an oil-based lubricant can cause these particles to build up inside the lock, making it difficult to operate or even damaging the internal mechanism. You can find dry lubricants, some of which are made specifically for locks, at most hardware stores.

A keypad deadbolt, a lock requiring a code entered on a keypad entry, can be a convenient option for families with children coming in and out and needing access to the home. It can also offer an easy solution if you rent your home out, since you can easily change the code as needed. So, depending on your home entry’s needs, a keypad deadbolt may be worth the extra expense.

If part of the key is protruding out of the lock, you can use a pair of needle-nosed pliers or tweezers to gently turn the key in the lock to open the door. If the key is fully inserted into the lock, you may also be able to use a key extractor to help turn the key into the unlocked position.
