"Excellent communication via email. After you sign the contract, they have 30 days to complete the project. In my case, they came on the last 2 days before the contract ended and weather was not nice. I was little nervous because of that. It was hard to get a hold of the project manager via phone. However, ladies in the office were helpful. Workers were excellent. They were very polite and detail-oriented. They did an excellent job! I also got a 5% discount for being a Angie's List member."

"The new fence looks beautiful. Steve, the owner, and his crew did a great job removing the old fence and putting up the new fence which involved working on two different elevations. They also completely removed the old fencing and debris. They did this while having to put up with my difficult neighbors who were present during the installation. Steve also accommodated my schedule by working my job in within a couple of weeks. I am very pleased with the results."

"On the day we moved into our house over a year ago, I ran into the chainlink fence along our driveway with the moving van and crumpled the end post.  It was mostly upright but the chainlink part was not connected anymore and it looked awful. I finally decided to do something about this and called Greg's Fencing. They returned my phone call that night, and after we talked about the work, they came out the next day to inspect the damage and left me a written estimate far lower than what I had expected. After that, we communicated through voicemail for about a week until the repairs were done. There was a little confusion that resulted from not actually reaching each other on the phone, and at points it was not clear to me exactly when they would come out. A message they left on Friday said they would be out on Saturday or early the next week; the work was finally done Friday of that week. However, I was not in a great rush (as I had told them) and was very pleased to come home to find the fence restored to its former uprightness. They did not contact me after that, either by phone or with a bill, so I just mailed a check to their address for the amount of the estimate. The quality of the work is great, the price was great, the time frame was actually fine, and I think the communication would have worked out much better had I been available to answer the phone when they called. If I ever run over my fence again, I will definitely call them."

"Vinnie had been doing my yard for about a year. He's a hard worker and does a good job. Last year was great, but this year he's been so hard to get a hold of and schedule. My grass is almost knee high and I haven't heard a peep from him after leaving 3 messages. I finally had to cancel service with him and get another provider."

"Brayan did a great job. He was attentive, communicative, and flexible. He build the gates to spec. He did an excellent job. He was flexible and adjusted as we needed to change the plan based on things we discovered while installing. The price was reasonable. Brayan is a young guy who is starting out his business. I hope he has a long and successful career ahead. I would definitely hire him again."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Paint your fence, install customized fence slats, or attach a bamboo screen for a more appealing yard aesthetic. Paint can give your yard a unique and fun look, and adding fence slats gives you a classic fence appearance. Bamboo screens are probably the most unique option that can add a fun vibe to your space.

The depth of the fence posts depends on the height of your fence. If you’re installing a 6-foot fence, then digging 2-foot-deep holes for the fence posts will help ensure a secure installation. However, if you’re installing an 8-foot fence, the posts will need to be deeper than 2 feet to support the structure properly. Also, consider how far apart the fence posts should be to provide adequate support.

The type of horse fence that’s most effective in the short term depends on your budget. Plastic fencing works as a temporary fence idea for those on a tight budget but doesn’t offer as much protection. Pipe fencing can be a short-term option as well. Despite its high cost, you can install and remove it easily if you need to relocate your pasture area.

Ideally, when you replace a fence post, you should also replace the concrete footing. The concrete bonds to your new post, creating a secure base. If you install a new post into old concrete, it won’t be as sturdy.

That said, it is possible. Sometimes the post will lift right out of the concrete. If not, you can use a high-lift car jack to try and lift the pole out of the footing. Put the new post into the same hole and backfill it with fast-setting concrete. Keep in mind, this won’t work well for metal posts.

Split rail fencing is a type of post and rail fencing. Other post and rail fences include corral board and post and dowel. Post and rail fencing is the term used for any type of fence with vertical posts, horizontal rails, and nothing else (specifically excluding pickets). So, technically, a split rail fence is a post and rail fence.
