Customers say: Quality work

"Susan recently helped us design our living room. We really like the result and could not have come up with the color palette on our own. She was available on phone, via emails and, when we needed her, also in person. She was extremely prompt in her response. And her prices were extremely reasonably for the amount of time/work she spend on our project. I definitely recommend her to anyone looking for an interior designer."

Customers say: Super punctual

"Tess is wonderful and exactly what I wanted. Over the years we've collected lots of "things" - oriental rugs, artwork, travel finds, etc. And I love the outdoors, indoor plants, and lots of greenery. I've shied away from interior designers,, having heard tales of total makeovers with new everything, budget overruns and personal bias. I really wanted someone who could work with precious things I have or need, and at the same time could help me part with some things I thought I couldn't get rid of. I also needed a serious jolt of creativity and color. Tess to the rescue! She listens and has the patience of a saint. She came equipped with all kinds of samples to help me hone the "look". She was realistic about my budget, sensitive to my needs. Her talent defies description. I immediately signed on for a second project, the master bedroom. I will return to her again for more specific treatments around the house. I can't recommend her highly enough."

"Block made this process very simple (or as simple as it can be), and we are really happy with the design assistance we got, as well as them walking us through the design phase, procurement, board package, etc. Would definitely use again!"

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

One of the easiest ways to save money when hiring a holiday decorator is to provide storage for your decorations. If you have the space, you can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars by avoiding storage costs through your professional. It’s also a good idea to provide as much direction as possible for your professional, as this can cut down on design services. Finally, you can pay for your decorator to take down your decorations at the end of the season, but packaging and storing them yourself will save money on labor.

It depends on the scope of the project and your confidence in your own design capabilities. If you’re simply replacing a few appliances or want to change the cabinetry, you most likely do not need a designer. If you’re doing a full reno, you should bring in a pro unless you have a very strong design sense and want to spend hours laboring over the various technical details.

Yes, most designers tailor plans to fit your budget. Discuss financial constraints during initial consultations.

Options include blackout, sheer, and thermal curtains in various fabrics and styles.

You can hire a few different experts to redesign a kitchen. The best option depends on your goals, budget, and timeline. For small updates, we recommend hiring a contractor who specializes in kitchen renovation. For extensive updates, a general contractor might be your best bet since they’ll have experience with all aspects of the remodel. If you’re looking for more ideas in the planning stage, you can hire an interior designer or a kitchen remodeling company. Both options will help you thoroughly envision your new kitchen before the remodel begins.
