"Making the appointment online was super easy. A woman called the next day to confirm, which was nice. The locksmith who arrived (Nick) was highly professional and friendly. He did a great job at an affordable price. I am very happy with Mass Lock, I'd use them again and would recommend them to anyone."

Customers say: Quick response

"Roy was a lifesaver! On a Saturday night I realized my house keys went missing and I got an almost immediate response when I reached out. I made an appointment with him for the morning and he called 15 min prior to tell me he was on his way. When he arrived he was a few minutes early. He had my condo door unlocked in less than 5 minutes and I thought what he charged me, for a house call on Easter Sunday, was very fair. I really appreciated how responsive and reliable Roy was. I will definitely recommend him next time someone I know needs a locksmith."

"Awesome Service! I hired recently to install two garage door openers. I am pleased with his service. I described him as a professional, punctual and knowledgeable. He knows what he is doing. He visited prior to start the project and described what will be needed to complete the project and show up exactly on time (sharp) and completed the job very neatly and professionally. The best part and extra mile he gave in the whole project was follow up after the job is complete which mostly no one does after receiving the payment. Thank you so much for the job."

"Dave Smith was AWESOME! Very knowledgeable and patient. We added new items to our order at the 12th hour and he came back twice to make sure that everything was completed as we desired. We also had Alarm Protection Group secure our office. Dave Smith and Co. make the process very easy-Highly recommended."

Small jobs welcome

"I've been very happy with him. It was much less expensive than if I had to call a locksmith. He was very responsive. I called and they responded immediately. They came out the next day and fixed the front door. He was very personable and on time. He did a great job."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

If you’re having an issue turning the key inside a lock, chances are there is dust or dirt buildup within the cylinder. The easiest solution is applying a dry lubricant to the lock, which loosens the dirt buildup. You may need to turn the key a few times for it to work properly again.

Expect to pay between $50 to $200 if you hire a locksmith to change your locks. That figure includes labor and the cost of basic hardware. The cost will naturally be higher if you plan to install more expensive locks, like smart locks, and if you need a lot of them.

Homeowners can save money by replacing locks themselves. A typical rekeying kit costs about $10 to $25. The only additional cost is purchasing new house keys, and those are no more than a few dollars per key. If you want to replace the locks on your own completely, the main cost is the price of the locks themselves. A standard knob-style lock starts around $25, while electronic locks and smart locks will run in the hundreds of dollars. The only additional tools you should need are a tape measure, screwdriver, and screws if they are not already provided.

Many insurance providers offer policy discounts when adding security features to your home. The best way to find out if new locks will reduce your premium is to simply ask your agent.

Regrettably, entirely pick-proof locks don't exist unless you opt for keyless varieties. Locks advertised as "pick-proof" are, in reality, more resilient against lock-picking and bumping attempts because of complex mechanisms consisting of pins and sidebars. These locks work like this—they assign two tasks to the key, enhancing security by making unauthorized entry more challenging.

Security systems are one of the measures that deter burglars the most. Research suggests most burglars look for signs of a security system before going in, although the presence of a security system doesn’t automatically mean they won’t enter the home. However, a security system with cameras can decrease the chance of a burglary overall.
