"Roy was a lifesaver! On a Saturday night I realized my house keys went missing and I got an almost immediate response when I reached out. I made an appointment with him for the morning and he called 15 min prior to tell me he was on his way. When he arrived he was a few minutes early. Newer, electric-powered door locks generally have a life span of five years or less. That’s thanks, in large part, to a phenomenon called planned obsolescence, in which products are programmed to need replacing after a certain amount of time. If you don’t have your original key, the easiest way to obtain a copy is to call a locksmith. For house keys, your locksmith has several options for configuring a new key: 

  • They can input a lock’s identification code into a database to obtain key-cutting instructions.

  • They could analyze the lock cylinder to determine how to cut a new key.

  • They can create an impression of the lock cylinder from which to cut a new key. 

It depends on what type of keyless entry it is and if the locksmith has the proper tools to remove a keypad entry lock since some are more advanced than others.
