"Gary is very pleasant and professional to work with. Communication is great, pricing is fair and the quality of his work is top notch. The project he completed for me was taping/finishing the drywall in my 1500 sq ft 3 bedroom apartment with 9' ceilings. He was able to complete the job (and a few extra patches) in about 5/6 days by himself. Finished product is perfect and would definitely hire him again for any future work. "I recently hired NE Plastering for a small kitchen remodel in my home. I found them on Angi and after going over multiple positive reviews, I decided to contact them. There are some instances when you can use extra drywall in your garden. Ideally, unused scraps of new drywall are best for amending soil without the concern of additional chemicals or mold. It’s highly recommended to use studs for a TV mount. The last thing you want is to be watching your favorite show when the TV falls off the wall. Studs are much stronger than drywall and quite a bit stronger than drywall anchors but, if you can’t find the studs or there simply aren’t any where you need them, you can use drywall anchors. It’s extremely important to make sure the anchors are rated for the load of the TV. We recommend using anchors that are rated far beyond the weight of whatever you’re hanging. Our suggestion is metal drywall toggle anchors. 

Certain drywall textures, like sand and sometimes popcorn, can be smoothed by applying skim coats, sanding the walls, or chipping away the texture. However, it’s worth considering removing the texture and starting with a blank canvas. Smoothing textured walls requires a lot of sandpaper and elbow grease and can take longer than just outright removing the texture.

You’ll want to inspect your plaster walls for signs of damage before painting. If you notice soft spots, deep cracks, bubbling, or areas where the plaster is crumbling or pulling away from the wall, it likely needs repair. While small hairline cracks are common and likely cosmetic, you should address larger issues before painting to ensure a quality, smooth finish.

Although they are used for similar tasks, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum and is primarily used for large-scale projects like taping and finishing seams on new drywall. Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it a thicker compound best suited for small wall repairs like filling nail holes or cracks, as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. For small repairs, either product can be suitable. However, you can use joint compound for small jobs in place of spackle, but you cannot use spackle for large-scale taping and mudding projects.
