Small jobs welcome

"Gary is very pleasant and professional to work with. Communication is great, pricing is fair and the quality of his work is top notch. The project he completed for me was taping/finishing the drywall in my 1500 sq ft 3 bedroom apartment with 9' ceilings. He was able to complete the job (and a few extra patches) in about 5/6 days by himself. Finished product is perfect and would definitely hire him again for any future work. Gary is very easy to work with and would recommend him to anyone looking for drywall work."

"I recently hired NE Plastering for a small kitchen remodel in my home. I found them on Angi and after going over multiple positive reviews, I decided to contact them. Nelson was very responsive and came to the property and gave me an estimate the very next day. I felt the price was very fair and decided to hire them. I was thrilled that they could start the job right away. Nelson and his crew worked quickly and professionally, and had my project was done in two days. I was very pleased with the quality of work and how quickly and professionally the job was done. I would highly recommend an NE Plastering for any of your sheet rock or plastering needs."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

According to the EPA, mold grows within 24 to 48 hours if left untreated after a water leak. So unless you notice the leak and stop it right away, you only have a day or so before mold is a real concern. If you don’t notice the leak, it can take about three weeks for the mold spores to become visible. That means you’ve likely had an active mold infection for a few weeks by the time you notice discoloration.

To hide drywall edges, you need to properly apply drywall tape and multiple layers of joint compound. These materials hide the seams between drywall sheets and fill the holes from drywall screws, leaving behind a smooth, flat finish to paint over. Apply joint compound smoothly, and finish the job by sanding the walls to make sure you fully hide drywall edges and other imperfections.

Yes, it matters which side of drywall you use. One side is smooth, and the other is rough. The smooth side should be facing outward, toward the room, while the rough side should be hidden and facing the studs and framing of the house. The smooth side will be easier to apply tape, joint compound, and, later, paint to.

When you are learning how to tape and mud drywall, waiting for things to dry requires a lot of patience. So how long does drywall mud take to dry? On average, it takes about 24 hours. However, it depends on things like the thickness of the mud, as well as the room’s temperature, humidity, and ventilation. Using thin layers of mud in a warm, low-humidity room with good airflow reduces average drying time. You also could speed up drying time by making use of hot drywall mud, which consists of a powder that you mix with water, instead of using pre-mixed mud.

Whether you apply the drywall mesh before or after drywall mud depends on the type of patch it is. For self-adhesive patches, you’ll put the patch down first and then coat it with mud. Mesh patches that are not self-adhesive will require you to put mud down first and then press the mesh into it, followed by additional coats of mud.
