Architectural design office that has been in business since 1973. We offer professional services to builders, homeowners and business owners aspiring to realize design. Goals are balanced in time, quality and budget through resolution of zoning, building codes. We specialize in custom single and multifamily: new and remodel types. Designs reflect the client's needs and aspirations. Additions blend in with the existing. Addition projects include second stories, family rooms, kitchens, decks, accessory apartments and garages. We are experienced in fully accessible, humane design for the physically handicapped and "aging-in-place." Registered Architect and insured in the states of MA, RI, and NH.

"Alan Taylor is a horrible professional to work with. We hired him as an architect for our project and regretted it bitterly. Alan caused numerous delays, exploiting the fact that we simply were dependent on him once the design was approved by Boston building department. Each interraction with Alan took forever and his endless requests to get directly in touch with various committees, professionals working on the project, were absolutely not necessary, exclusively justifying Alan's overbilling. I will give 2 examples: my son was scammed out of $11k when he maid a payment to Alan, who then insisted that it was not him giving the bank info for money transfer, but hackers of his email. It took my son 4 months to get the money back, thanks to his bank, with Alan demanding a full payment over and over again, which resulted in almost 6 months delay. At the final stage of the project, while preparation of the condo association documents, Alan had to prepare as is building plan. One does not need to be an architect to realize that 1 site visit for measurements and max a couple of hours to review the engineering plans and add 8 annotations should not take 2.5 months and be billed $3680. I would strongly encourage everyone to stay away from this person."

Our company is your best source for professional, value driven, low cost service. Meaning that we are able to provide the most value and innovation per your dollar spent. We are a design build company with 25 years experience in all aspects of the construction industry, unlike most contractors that only specialize in one field and sub out the rest of the work to the lowest bidders; ultimately resulting in a lower quality of work. Busy Bee Construction only employs dependable and experienced craftsman to insure top quality work, and to prove it we offer a one year workmanship warranty. So whether your project is as small as a bathroom or as large as a new constructed home we can make it a stress free and exciting experience for you. Please visit busy-beeconstruction.com to find out more about our company and see photos. Additional email contact: [email protected]

"I can't say enough about John, Gary, and the team at Busy Bee Construction. They took on a big project transforming my horror of an overly-large primary bathroom into a beautiful, new bathroom plus an additional study. They were clear, communicative, and knowledgeable, and they did exceptional work at a very fair price. I would absolutely work with them again (and definitely will!). These guys are the real deal."

Ayotte Home Improvements is a fully licensed and insured remodeling/construction company. We offer free estimates and years of experience.Take a look at our website for some of our past projects.

"We had the need to renovate/remodel our Master Bathroom, 1st floor bathroom, and our kitchen. We started interviewing prospective contractors, which in its own is a challenging experience. Some people acted like they wanted the job, others postponed appointments or cancelled all together. Bob Ayotte came to our home, sat down with my wife and I and listened to what we wanted, or at least what we thought we wanted at that point. He offered some ideas and concepts, but deferred to our vision. He took the time to visit each room, the spaces below them, the spaces above them, the wiring, the plumbing, the ventilation, etc. with an attention to detail. He asked lots of questions, took in my answers and my wife’s answers, which at times opened our eyes because our answers didn’t always match. There was never a sales approach, just a consultative approach. By the time he left, I said to my wife, “If his price is in the ballpark, and his communication and follow up on the proposal is professional, we have found our contractor.” Indeed, the price was in the right range, and the communication and follow up could not have been more professional. Bob delivered everything when he said that he would. He took the time to walk us through the proposal and answer a great number of questions. We came to agreement and decided to move forward. My experience with people who own their own companies is that I run into many people who are either “artists”: people who gifted in their craft who fail at running the business aspect including communication, or “business people” who are great at running the business, but fail at the art of their craft. Bob was so good at the business aspect, that I legitimately worried about his ability to deliver on the art. If you share that concern, or my view on artists vs business people, let me assure you that Bob is both. We tackled the master bath first, as a separate project. Everything went exactly according to schedule. We met with Bob’s tile subcontractor, Brian at Nashua Tile Center. We picked out what we wanted, and awaited his estimate. My wife chose some very nice tile, and we ended up $900 over our expected budget…$900 over Bob’s original estimate. Over the course of the remainder of the projects, this would be the only cost over-run which was not due to us adding some new scope of work, like deciding on a bench for the shower, or for a glass shower door instead of the original shower curtain concept. We more than made up for that budget over-run in credits that came back to us in other areas, including being under budget on tile for our kitchen and 1st floor bath (which of course, allowed us to add more scope to the job anyhow). All in all, aside for things that we CHOSE to add to the project, we were roughly $200 over budget for all three rooms: Master Bath, 1st Floor Bath, and Kitchen combined! The Master Bath Project from start to end took 4 weeks, just as Bob had outlined for us. It was delivered on time, and within budget. Further, his sub-contractors for tile, electrical, plumbing, plaster, painting and floor refinishing treated our home with great respect throughout the process, always taking time to prepare the area for work, protect our floors, take precautions to control dirt and dust, and to clean up every day when the work was done. Bob’s crew of himself, Mike, and Austin were friendly, knowledgeable, and hard working. I worked from home throughout the entire project, so I saw first-hand how they went about their business each day. The finished product, our Master Bath, is amazing. Friends who have seen it say that it looks like something they would find in a spa. The work was fantastic. All permits and inspections were handled by Bob and team, and they were flawless. We were excited to move on to the kitchen and first floor bath. A friend of mine had helped me with my kitchen cabinets, so they were supplied independently. Everything else went according to plan. As I stated above, the same crew from Ayotte Home Improvements, and the same sub-contractors came in, treated my home and my family with great respect, and delivered the job on budget, and on time. Bob went out of his way on several occasions to help me out with items that came up where he could either save me some money on something, save me time on something, or just help me to move a fridge, or remove a fridge, just a bunch of items that he really didn’t have to do, but he did because I believe he is just genuinely a nice guy who wants happy customers and successful projects. Toward the end of the kitchen and bath project, it became evident that we would be foolish to not extend our new colors and woodwork into our dining room and living room. Bob just rolled with the changes, managed his sub-contractors and adjusted accordingly as we added scope (and cost). He was incredibly patient with us. Throughout the entire process, the professionalism and communication never waned. Bob and I exchanged emails and text messages on a regular basis. The artist and the business person never conflicted. The project plan was accurate each week. The payments and dollars owed were always correct. This project went so well, we have Bob and his team back to add a two car garage and mud room now."

Jeff Veglia Remodeling was established in 1987 offering full scale remodeling and tile services. This business was built on honesty, integrity, and quality to all clients. Our reputation is based on superior quality at a competitive price and most importantly we listen to our customers. We serve Massachusetts. Please email or call rather than Message Center on Angie's List.

"Veglia Remodeling was wonderful to work with. Jeff gave me an estimate for the labor/work on my bathroom remodel. He also suggested vendors to work with and suggested meeting them to choose materials (which was the other cost of course). That was very helpful. Jeff was always available via text or phone. Mostly text. He was the point person if I had concerns. Always gracious. Happy to weigh in if I wasn't sure about something. He has a number of people who he works with and they were all very professional and everyone always cleaned up when they left for the day. I felt very fortunate to have Jeff commit to my project since my bathroom is extremely small (two people standing in it is a crowd) and it can be tough to find someone who will work on a small project."

Call us Today!!! With over 100 years of combined experience D & R Construction offers a wide range of residential and commercial services. Our focus is on client satisfaction and providing high quality work at a fair and affordable price. Many construction companies have a set hierarchy where owners, project managers, and employees each fall within their respective category. Here at D&R we challenge that hierarchy set up. The owner gets just as dirty as the laborer, and the carpenter gets to know the client just as well as the owner. At D&R we all work together to be the BEST decision a homeowner ever made! We look forward to earning your business.

"In 2021, I hired Eric to fix a water leak in my basement. I paid approximately $8000. Three months after the work was done, there was leaking again. He came over and told me that this was a different leak. After I saved up enough money, I was referred to an expert in basement leaks/foundations. He came over and completed the work. When he was doing the work, he proactively asked me who did the work previously. He said he was clearly not done by someone with knowledge of foundations. I have tried to resolve with Eric. At a minimum, I deserve a refund"

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Finishing your basement adds value to your home, providing an average return on investment (ROI) of around 75%. That means the typical basement refinishing costs of $32,000 will add an average of $24,000 to the value of your property. The value added to your home will depend on the price you pay to have the work completed, the area you live in, the quality of the work and building materials, and more.

A finished basement must have a heat and electrical supply with an entrance that meets building code requirements, such as a stairwell to the home's main living space. It often must include finished walls, ceilings, and floors. If the finished basement includes a bedroom, it should have a heat source, an egress window, and a closet.

Remodeling, as opposed to finishing, means altering an already finished basement by adding a bathroom, bedroom, or living area.

If you don’t have a crawl space but have a partial basement you want to make deeper, you can expect to spend a little less—between $40,000 and $90,000 on average. However, if you’re not adding new finished square footage, you won’t see much in the way of ROI.

Permits may be required for major repairs, structural work, or electrical and plumbing restoration after a flood. Check with your local building department to determine permit requirements and associated fees for your flooded basement cleanup project. Obtaining the correct permits helps ensure work is done safely and up to code.

Making a window in a basement larger costs an average of $4,200. You’ll need to pay an average of $550 to have a structural engineer plan the project, $500 to $1,500 for the installation labor, and an average of $2,200 for the excavation and window well installation. The remainder will go toward pulling permits, installing trim, and repairing drywall on the interior.
